Regarding goalkeeper situation, he wanted a keeper who is an integral part of how we play. I remember Baxter in interview saying the goalie is the decision maker in deciding when we play long or short. I think Allsopp has shown that he is exceptionally good at that. His long balls have created chaos at times, and gives teams something to think about when they are pressing and defenders then move up to fill the gaps behind the press. They use to talk about goalies dominating the box, he seems to dominate the final third. He has shown us what Liam wants from his goalie. Unfortunately, his handling has let him down recently, and that is not sustainable long term. Hopefully that could be temporary. Goalies can be out of form too. Last season every time I watched Liverpool’s highlights (which wasn’t often), Allison seemed to make a howler. Klopp stuck with him because he offers so much otherwise, and I believe he has come good again.
I do think Ingram’s performance told us more. It confirmed that he isn’t suited to this and being a brilliant shot stopper isn’t enough. Allsopp’s injury may have confused matters, but letting Ingrams go and bringing someone in who has more all round ability to push or replace Allsopp should be a priority in this window. Harsh on Ingram, who overall has been great for us, but he needs to be playing regularly in the championship for a team not reliant on passing from the back. Whether the replacement is an upgrade on Allsopp or someone to push him, he needs to decide whether his recent handling is temporary.
Ingram is obviously very highly thought of. Remember Luton loaning him for their was it 21/22 play off campaign. I personally think Allsopp confidence is a bit shot, maybe why all the hugs and back slaps (against Boro)... when he does make a visually good save they are really good saves, my problem is with him are the regulation saves, some are even catchable. I'm from an era where goalkeepers used to catch balls from corners not punch and go flying across goal and catch balls going in the top corner and keeping hold of it, not parrying and without boxing gloves on their hands. You need your defence to have total faith in their keeper if theyre breached, do they have that in Allsop..???

As has been said, I think Twines next club will be defined by Burnleys position at season end...

Nixon’s piece seems to suggest it’s this window for Bristol City. Their manager was Twine’s during his time at MK Dons so obvious link there.

2.5m in summer I’d have been happy to pay for Twine. At this stage we are waiting for him to be consistently good. He’s been miles better recently but let’s not forget how good Longman was on loan for a spell. I’d be more worried about what happens to our depth if he went to Brizzle

I’d pay it for Twine personally. It’s around what we would’ve paid for him had we signed him last summer and I’m amazed he’s not in Burnley’s plans if they go down

Fee quoted seems a bit low. Either it’s bollocks or Burnley need some £ through the door asap to try and give Kompany a chance.

Absolutely I’d buy twine there is a really good player in there, the last few games shows that.
His free kick was brilliant, some players take time to settle and I think he will become an integral part of the team going forward. This is my opinion may not align with other opinions, to be honest, I don’t give a ****, each to their own….

Well I for one am continue not to be convinced by Twine. He runs around a lot but does not create much, and yes he has improved somewhat over the last few games. Yesteray when he was playing on the left I dont think he beat a man once and he would receive the ball control the ball and then play it back. The opposite of what is needed for out play to be faster and more explosive. But the the men in charge particularly LR seem to like him and they know more than I do.

I don’t think twines lived upto the hype, however what exactly should we be getting for £2.5million in today’s market.
I don’t think you get the finished article that’s young and is a top championship player

We want him as well apparently.

Makes perfect sense, frees up another loan spot and provides more long term security for the squad. Also with Doc probably going either in January or Summer, it’s another body in midfield we don’t need to worry about.

I think £2.5m is excellent business for us. Not a huge amount if it goes wrong and it means Burnley free up a bit of wages.

£2.5m is big money in the championship, Acun spending seems to have changed people’s view on this. We will be pushing that FFP limit soon, so I don’t think shelling out £2.5m on a player who is only just hitting form would be silly. It’s also come from Alan Nixon ffs.

It is if you're not looking relative to what we have spent already, we have two players we paid more than that for that have barely played this season. 14 clubs, ourselves included, have spent that on at least one player this season. I'm not sure about FFP figures now as I don't know if Murat Ulker's cash injection via the sponsorship impacts that. But, I'd have thought getting Tetteh's, Woods' and Oscar's wages off the bill will have helped.
