Of course you can absolutely keep talking - just try not to clearly ignore the elephant in the room that is that he couldn't play if we even did have him back! That's quite an important fact, you know.

I know some people seem to unable to accept it, but Oscar is gone. He's not coming back into the team, bar something utterly catastrophic. He doesn't fit into what Rosey wants. I loved him but it's all over for him in black and amber.

I’m not quite sure how he could have got injured for Metz if he never played for Metz, but you seem to be knowledgable about all things football and seem to think it could happen, so I will trust your judgement on this one.

That's not what he said, Syd.

The suggestion was we recall Oscar, he's saying he's injured so can't play now.

It left us short up top apparently.

We only have Delap on 6, Connolly on 6 and Tufan on 6 from the central alternatives.

If we'd stuck with Oscar all season so far he'd probably have scored 2 hat tricks and done **** all else. Cos he's a natural finisher, you see. Does **** all else though. But naive, arrogant, yaddayadda.

I mean, no comparison. Such a naive decision to let Oscar go and get injured for someone else at a profit, wasn't it?

It did leave us short up top and we've been pretty fortunate that Delap's been a workhorse and not really missed a game.

But getting a 7 figure fee, shifting big wages for someone who's not really in the gaffer's plans is a no brainer. Rome wasn't built in a day and all that, it's more about progress and we're getting that.

I'd love 5 in next month, but it's not happening in a million years so if we can bring 3 in who improve us, it's more steady progress

Steady progress is going to be the name of the game.

And the owners are bought into that.

I don’t think Oscar’s fee with Metz is an obligation, only an option. In which case, unless he has a barnstorming end to the season for them, he’s almost certainly coming back to us, minus whatever value he had last summer.

It was suggested at the time it was an obligation, just a way of structuring the fee. And his so-called market-value on a couple of respected stats sites is currently 4m. So there's a genuine chance the structure of the deal is just to structure the fee in favour of sustainability rules in Metz favour, and the obligation is real.

Of-course there will potentially be conditions and caveats.

But I think it's significant he's doing his rehab there. If we had a genuine stake in his future left, then he'd be on our treatment table, not trusting theirs.

Either way, we're not going to be refunding half a million quid loan fee to recall an injured player whom we don't want in the long term anyway, this January.

He's gone. Just get over it.

Not been around in a while but glad to see the bickering is the same as ever.

Weird one, but why would we recall a striker we decided to send out 6 months ago? I thought we ratified his loan after the Davis deal fell through so we knew we weren't getting another one in

Of all the posts to quote to complain about bickering that's certainly a weird one. <laugh>

Agree the suggestion we recall him is weird.

Steady progress was probably a harsh way of me categorizing it as going from a relegation scrap to top 6 in a year isn't really steady.

We've just been really smart in the market and long may that continue. Obviously Philogene gets all the plaudits but Allsop has been a huge signing in terms of playing out from the back, getting Connolly permanently was very smart and the use of the loan market has been astute too. We've not really had any flops from the summer transfer window. Some maybe haven't done as well as hoped but nobody has completely flopped
