Much as I like Seri, I honestly think we'll be fine without him as long as Morton stays on the pitch. He showed enough yesterday to suggest as much. I still think the biggest loss to our system has been Allsop. We look way more settled in the system when he is playing.
Not sure about that Syd he’s starting every game in the Dutch first division. Won’t be coming to sit on the bench
The statement about Allsop also applies to Seri though. Slater and Morton are absolutely no where near as good at what Seri brings to the side. Morton will now not be as effective without Seri as he lets him do his thing higher up whereas now he’s going to be used to play those simple boring passes that Seri does without thinking in front of the back 4 to keep us ticking.
We'll see, I guess. I think Tufan will play further forward and do absolutely fine. He's really putting himself about at the moment and getting involved frequently. Much as I admire Ingram, we just don't have a stand-in for Allsop, yet.
100% agree, you don’t notice the impact of him in possession in comparison until you go back. Ingram can’t do the short balls to the effect Allsop can. Better shot stopper no doubt but you can get away with that now if you make a team much better.
I fear it may have been a heavy drubbing in that first-half if Ingram had played behind that back four. In fact, I'm pretty sure that Rosey wouldn't have trusted him with that task.
I was judging off Baz's comments on the 1904 pod last week. I think he's coming in to challenge Allsop but not as the pre-determined number one.
Spence had a kill clause in his loan that could be activated by Leeds in the likely case he had a bad attitude and the manager didn’t want him.
It may well have changed given the quality of the incoming, but it seemed the intention was to bring someone in to allow Lo-Tutala to go out on loan while still challenging Allsop/Ingram. He's a pretty young keeper so intention might be Allsop as number one with this guy being looked at to take over over the next season or so, which was where I was going with the 'one for the future', but who knows.
Losing Delap for a period will be a blow, as much as losing Philogene has been. The good news is that we only have three Championship fixtures in January. There were small glimpses yesterday that suggests Connolly will be far more potent with Billy Sharp as a partner. There were a number of times yesterday when Sharp received the ball just outside their box, and laid the pass off immediately into Connollys path with a shooting opportunity. I've seen Seri, Traore, Twine in the exact same positions multiple times this season where instead they pass the ball backwards or attempt a ridiculous shot. Hopefully there will be more incoming after Carvalho and a new fullback, once the high wages of Sinik, Vinigre and Twine are off the books.
I keep seeing Twine mentioned as leaving, is this the Bristol City & us bidding for him this month, & it’s likely we won’t be bidding seriously to get him? Is this a fan theory, or something from the inside info people? Either way, I’d find it strange if we didn’t try to sign him permanently, with Rosie playing him week in & out. Unless that’s part of the loan deal? Also is this actually a Rosie signing or is it Acun, as we tried last year before he joined Burnley?
News coming out of Turkey that Ryan Kent has joined City on loan. https://x.com/bbosports/status/1743977043698614742?s=20
