But what ? You telling me you think we have enough options up front ?

Careful mate you'll have a few pile on you soon for being dissapointed

Saying you're disappointed (which we all are by the way) is vastly different to spouting off "the ownership have bottled it" which is pathetic. The fans crying that our season is over are the ones who've bottled it, I'm still hopeful of a day at Wembley.

It’s literally what you wrote. Said you’re not giving up ‘but’ and listed all the ways in which you’re giving up.
And no one will pile on @Southern A as he’s giving nuanced, well thought out opinions. He’s expressing disappointment that we’re all sharing without claiming the sky is about to fall in.

Very disappointing day today that we don’t appear to have at least strengthened up front.
Leaving ourselves with 1 loaned forward for the rest of the season (assuming we don’t bring in a free agent) is asking for trouble.
Lihadji has been mentioned as a potential second option but the lad hasn’t played centrally previously.
No doubt we have completed some very good deals this month as we did in each of the last two windows but to still be so short up front after this window given previous windows and injuries immediately after the last window closed is worrying and disappointing in equal measure and it feels that we’ve passed up a great chance of playoffs.
Mowbray and the lads needed that forward option to supplement what is a very good young team.
I’m not a huge Bailey Wright fan but he’s a cracking pro and I’d wish him all the best down at Rotherham.

How is that me giving up I'll still turn up support the players on the pitch etc like yourself.
Maybe saying they bottled it was the wrong term to use and its just frustration either way we've left ourselves well short yet again in a key area

My Leeds supporting mate just text me saying "not to worry you pal but Gelhardt's injury record aint great. kept getting niggly issues keeping him out 2-3 weeks which stopped him kicking on. Night!"

cheers mate

Still think play offs are ours for the taking. No guarantees on anything but Mowbray is over the moon re Gelhardt and as far as I know he isnt injured or guaranteed to be so. Looking forward to matchday now and we can leave the tfr circus behind.

I agree, we just need to be more clinical in front of goal as we definitely have the players.

What would be nice is an announcement that Stewart has signed a new long term contract.

Pretty much the point I'm making mate , we're then down to no strikers yet again

And the good news just keeps on coming

Fair enough

Sorry mate I'm not meaning to have a go. You're definitely entitled to your opinion, and I think everybody agrees with it to differing extents.

we definitely should have an extra striker, or two. But we don't. And that's on the recruitment team, whether its fair to be on them or not.

I think that is an indisputable fact. And I think everyone involved at the club would be willing to admit that.

The tension seems to be around whether its fair to "blame" them for failing. And everyone will differ on that. Especially until we hear any sort of explanation as to what happened.

Well, we've got what we've got now. All we can do is support the team. Shame as there was a chance of play offs but that was never my expectation in August, and I would have been happy with mid table. It doesn't look like we're going to get relegated. Kick on in the summer.

Nail on head.

Where did Ugbo end up?

On paper we still have one of the most talented squads in the league so I’m not going to worry too much. We really do need to start taking our chances in front of goal however and the shape up front will have to change.

It’s just unfortunate through bloody awful luck and Lampard's desperation we have found out the hard way why almost all teams in the league started the season with 3 or 4 centre forwards.

The club is still a massive work in progress and will learn from it I’m sure.

Starting to take our chances in front of goal won’t happen with a massively reduced c.forward option I’m afraid.
And they found out the hard way this season after about 8 games when Simms and LND were both injured how important c.forward cover was.
Arrogance imo is why they’ve not looked at that and just gone and made the exact same mistake.
Zero self reflection on speakmans part here.

Yeah mate your right
It's just really frustrating. I've certainly not lost faith in the group of players, they have not let us down all season.
But the fact we have lost 3 key experienced players and not replaced any of them is a massive worry .

It's over the lads that's there now. Window shut, uncertainty over, deal with the cards delt and get on with it. Simple as that.

I'd like to add I'm not trying to be "Come on everyone, we've got lemons, let's make lemonade" with the whole striker thing, ofcourse I think it's crackers we're going into the last 4 months without a striker. I imagine you can't snap your fingers to replace an injured Stewart on 3 days notice, however, you'd have thought some kind of replacement for Simms was on the cards after a month regardless of what was going on at Everton. We'll never know. But, as I said before, it's over to the lads that's there. ps very odd we don't have a Number 9 in the squad, I bet its a long time since that last happened.
