I've not given up on the team at all , but what happens when gelhardt inevitably is our for 2 months and our form then drops like it did the first time round? No lessons learnt man
Be honest though, is there anything he can say that will make you happier with the situation? That's the problem with these statements. He has to put a professional angle on it "we're happy with the squad", "we won't compromise the financial security of the club on the wrong deal", "we think Lihadji and Clarke are both options to play striker" etc and he'll get absolutely slated for it. If he comes out and says "we're disappointed, our window was poor and we don't have enough strikers", he'll get slated for that and may bring the morale of the squad down with it if anything he says can be perceived as criticism of our current squad. He will do an interview for sure, but the fans who are disappointed will be waiting for the comment they can hang him for.
Window shut, Twitter ****ers retreat into their cave for another 5 months, Thank **** for that. Bring on Millwall
Way of cheating the FFP rules , this has now been identified and the loophole will be closed - problem is Chelsea have now got away with it !!! Very clever!!!
I'm staggered really. It's very disappointing. But we still have about 999 reasons to be cheerful. And this team is my favourite team in my lifetime supporting Sunderland. So swings and roundabouts. Next season we are going to have a real go. Our youngens will all have a year extra experience. Stewart will be back. And in theory our ability to spend should increase, as its likely we will sell one or two, and therefore we should be able to re-invest to supplement the good players we have. Just got to enjoy the rest of this season as best as we can. It feels like a punt or a shot to nothing now. Which is a shame that we haven't really gone for it, but also not the end of the world. Just remember - all of you - that NOBODY is pleased with this. We are all just differing levels of disappointed. And some of us are perhaps as disappointed as you but looking for positives rather than dwelling on the negative. Night all
It's not cheating at all though really, is it? It's a technique that every club use, Chelsea have just extrapolated it to the extreme level. Honestly they've spent a fortune and will get a lot of stick but I really think they've sorted their long term future out as an elite club with the signings they've made since Boehly came in (some mistakes too) Fofana, Badiashille, Fernandez and Mudryk will be the core of that team for years and I'd wager Santos, Datro Fofana and Madueke all contribute too.
And how do you know if he is even going to get injured? You have just decided he is going to get injured
One final reflection on the day - was that at no point whatsoever at any point today did any journalist link us with any player or provide any news on anything that was or wasn't happening. On a day when it was clear that at least one signing was needed (indeed the manager has publicly spoken about the need for 2 and even name checked Simms), The most bizarre transfer deadline day I can remember.
The main thing I wish they’d remember is that probably Speakman and KLD are the least pleased and the most disappointed out of all of us. They’re the ones that will have been working their arses off, ultimately with nothing to show for it. They’re the ones with the most riding on it and are the ones most heavily invested.
But what ? You telling me you think we have enough options up front ? Careful mate you'll have a few pile on you soon for being dissapointed
Yeh absolutely, I think I said that in my post. I just meant that sometimes they have to deliver news people won't like, and that it not making anybody feel better shouldn't prevent it. There's a lot of angst flying about and whilst some sort of statement will antagonise some, it will actually at least bring some sort of resolution to others.
On paper we still have one of the most talented squads in the league so I’m not going to worry too much. We really do need to start taking our chances in front of goal however and the shape up front will have to change. It’s just unfortunate through bloody awful luck and Lampard's desperation we have found out the hard way why almost all teams in the league started the season with 3 or 4 centre forwards. The club is still a massive work in progress and will learn from it I’m sure.
Jesus christ have you watched the first half of the season unfold or are you just on the windup .? Why take the risk is what I'm saying it's not rocket science
There's ways of being disappointed. One way is to pretend that everybody who isn't as annoyed as you is therefore happy with it. The other way is to acknowledge people can be disappointed and react differently.
