Spot on, as a newly promoted club, in no danger of a relegation fight at the minute, think we’ve done well. It’s the potential opportunity missed that seems to be the issue for a lot of people, we’re close to the playoffs and that’s stirred up the aspirations in a few.

Its understandable I think. Our fans are not used to being in a season where mid table is the expectancy.

Not since Bruce for a couple of seasons have we had a season where each game doesn't feel like life or death.

Its why sunderland fans are so great as well. we are passionate. we want to win every friendly, let alone league games.

but we need to remember this is a long term project and we're way ahead of schedule already. Now's the time to let things breathe, not smash things up.

I would like a physical Centre forward like Simms for an option.
But you're right a fluid front line of Clarke, Geldhart, Amed and Roberts would scare the life out of teams.
And we have the new young lad Lihadji

The best half of football, I've seen this season, was the 3-0 at Reading without Simms or Stewart ...

... best Sunderland goal I've ever seen as well.

It's been an unusual deadline day in that there hasn't been anything for us addicts to leach onto. No rumours in the press. Nothing on twitter. Not even any ITKs saying they've heard anything (and understandably so as they get pelters when it doesnt work out).

But it means its been complete radio silence all day.

So thats another reason people are even more edgy than they would be if there was a little sprinkling of hope.

And also FYI - Joe Gelhardt is ****ing brilliant. I think its natural and easy to forget about him, and most people are catastrophising to the "no strikers" position. We do have one. sure he may get injured. but the one we have should play quite a lot hopefully and he's very very good

Big concern is I think we have 7 games in 28 days the way the lad presses we can’t rely on him to play 90mins in them all

He is very good, but we can’t be leaving ourselves short again. We have a real problem if he ends up being our only option.

No one is doubting how good Gelhardt is, it’s our luck with injuries.

The thing is, all it takes is a daft challenge on Saturday or whenever and we’re back to where we were in September.

fatigue will also come into it as well
