Your not allowed to say that, you will get Liverpool, man city and other top clubs thrown at you and how their players don't do that.

It's an impossible situation, Stewart is brilliant there is no doubt but to a fair few he is irreplaceable and a losing him will show our lack of ambition
I think the conversations about what footballers earn happens more in the media than the dressing room. Bit like the common workplace - not sure people sit around discussing their weekly salaries.
Having said that, stuff gets leaked out and these agents are like parasites

Then off he pops.

'Break the bank' and 'Give him what he wants' are things I hope we never do for any player.

Hmm its not about breaking the bank... its about being in with a shout.

To be, atm, as we are in the Championship and to be in with a shout of promotion, needs a biggish squad who are good players who can replace each other, (by and large).
Players of a good standard come with a Championship price tag, plus of course goal scorers generally command higher fee and wages.

Imho we have not yet reached the plateau or level needed in the Championship. We need players of Stewart's ability and quite a few more. Selling him for the reputed £10m and bringing in several young prospects, may be a business plan, but its not going to ensure success on the football field. The opposite is more likely.

But if a players demands don't fit the wage structure then we shoildnt pay it. It would open the floodgates for others.

Next season, after (hopefully) a decent season this year we may be able to up the max wage to 25k and then possibly re-assess after triggering his 12 mknth extension? (I've no idea on the actual finances though. We got done for Alvarez and who knows what other legacy payments are still being made that might be coming to an end)

I'd love him to stay and sign a deal that suits all parties, I just can't see it happening tbh; too much noise being made.

We are in the very early stages of this 'model' one or two will go and we have to trust the recruitment team to strengthen the squad with the money, of they can't strengthen the squad then your right and it's a downward spiral.

Recruitment is the key to all this working

A lot of smoke around Stewart, but we'll just have to see.

Obviously, if a Premier League club want to buy him and will pay him Prem wages( the AVERAGE a year or two ago was almost £20k a week) but Stewart is a striker, its a couple of years on from that, and if its Everton they'll have the money. £30k sounds what they might pay at a guess, and he'll be getting nothing like that here, or any other Championship club that hasn't got old prem contracts running.

So if Everton want him, I imagine he'll be gone. I just hope they manage it well.

I'd be gutted if he was the replacement for Ross Stewart
So would I mate. Not what I am proposing. Just dont think a risk of an unknown, in such a tight league, is the only answer. No problem with this fella and the next costa rican world beater.

I'd rather be looking upwards than down. Find a striker in the PL who is hungry enough to drop down into the Championship

Nee idea who like

Prem wages are the attraction for Stewart by all accounts. Dont see any wanting to drop to our supposed salary level.

I didnt know that, he lives 15 mins from Wigan, just imagine if he got a move up here, but lived in Heston. 2hrs 45 mins if no traffic.
As if he has to go "home" all the time. Just ****ing man up and move here and embrace it

Spent 18 months living on the south coast when I was a similar age to Broadhead. Hundreds of miles away from home. I only went back 2 or 3 times. Why is geography so bloody important to these people?

I would have moved to Southampton in the late 90s with this very very fit lass I was chasing. Anyhow I managed to **** it up so never happened. But I would have.

It is to me now, but I’m settled with a family. When I was his age I travelled the country contracting on different jobs. Living out of digs. Absolutely loved it!!!
