Irrelevant if they spend it badly. Of course they have money to spend, they're a PL club.

As you say, why on they not spending it on a new stadium? I've said it before, at the moment when they get relegated in the future they'll have nothing to show for their time in the top flight other than memories. No (decent) stadium. No (decent) youth academy. No trophies.

By and large their main players are still those that came up with them. Even the three main guys who they have added, in Ake, Brooks and King, the latter two were pretty cheap.
Counter arguement would be that with an improved playing squad you are likely to not get relegated. Then if/when the club do have a bad year and go down they are likely to get promoted back up right away.

Who says they will get relegated ?

You think Bmouth will survive forever? Pretty much outside the top six, everyone will get related one day. Bmouth will. We will. West Ham will. Over half the league will. Promotion/relegation is much more a short term thing than building a new stadium.

(It's still not entirely sure what your counter point is here. My original point is that Bmouth spend badly. There is a huge amount to admire about them and their manager, but spending money is not one of them. Mings, Brad Smith, Mousset, Ibe, Rico, Afobe, Gradel, Defoe's wages. That is a huge amount of wasted money. The jury is still out on Lerma, because he's new to the league and I have at times seen a decent player in him.)

Nobody is safe from relegation .

My point is simply that , as you say Bournemouth have money to spend as they are a PL team .

So are we , where are we spending ?
How can they splash the cash and we ( as far as I can see ) cannot ?

I'd suggest that's a mixture of our wage bill being higher than theirs, and the attitude of our board.

That said, I'm hardly advocating that we starting copying Bmouth's transfer strategy! (Although it should be said, when we have spent money in recently years, we've hardly spent it wisely either.)

I can't be as critical as others regarding our transfers over the last 2 and a half years. For me, it has been the managerial appointments that have made the transfers look worse. Admittedly the black box has been AWOL for quite a while, but when you look at what we've tried to do, we've been let down and unlucky. A few examples would be;
Wesley, a dutch internation from Lazio.
Elyounoussi, playing CL with Basel.
Carrillo- okay a strange one, perhaps just a vote of confidence in MP
Gabbidini, Clearly better than what we've seen.

But the one thing they all have in common (well along with saints failure) is their age.
All of them will hold some value, unlike the quick fix old player signings we've seen in our past. So, for that we should be a little thankful. If we stay up, we have a good chance of shifting a lot of players with relative ease. And that is not a given in modern football.

Peter Crouch? got a few super sub appearances left in him!

No thanks. I’ve never forgiven him for losing us vital points in the 2005 relegation season. Can’t remember the game but with minutes to go he took a shot on goal (and missed), instead of running the ball into the corner. Possession duly returned to the opposition and they scored shortly after.

I’ve said it before, number one priority (in my humble opinion) is a player who can command our defence. Scoring isn’t the biggest issue, we are getting goals, it’s letting them in.

I had Beattie to score first for Everton and Saints to win 2-1.... ****ing hell Crouchie! Knock it down the M27! No straight to the keeper, long kick, one bounce, Bent, shot, goal. Feck it

Whereas for me, it's a forward all day long. I'd say we're currently a Redmond injury away from being in the Championship next season.

We're potentially going into the Leicester game next week with Long as our only available striker! (Potentially: Ings and Obafemi injured, Gallagher injured/not match fit to be selectable, Austin suspended, Gabbi sold)
