You also have to remember that that Man U team was essentially the same as the one that won the European Cup just over a year before. Best, Law, Charlton, Crerand, Kidd etc. were ripped to pieces, mainly by big Ron and Johnny Sydenham on the left wing.

Thats amazing! we looked pretty handy back then. My first game was in 1990!

Snap. Back in the days of life in black and white, everything was black and white in the in the mid 60's, I'd just moved from IOW to N'castle, with everyone bigging up Wyn Davis. So I threw my lot in with Ron and Saints. The foolishness of youth. Still addicted. Any road up, there was a lot of banter about who was the best centre forward, Ron or Wynn. Close race but Ron won. Could have been a Pompey fan if I'd caught a different ferry!
I can't remember the year - probably early 70's but definitely a few years before 1976 - but I saw him (on TV) playing for Wales. He obviously scored and I can remember asking my Dad who he played for. I wanted my own team as my Dad was a Liverpool fan, Mum Arsenal, brother Leeds and my grandad Everton. Haven't looked anywhere else since

I remember taking a young lady out that I had been keen on for ages, we were in a pub called the Red Lion in Lodge Road when in walked Ron Davies with a few other players, needless to say she was far more interested in him than me.
He was a superb species of a man on and of the pitch, he was also a very nice down to earth guy.

Regarding Gabbiadini.
I'm usually a 'give them more time, they will come good' sort of guy, usually till other fans are rolling their eyes and walking off rather than listen to me! But I'll be very comfortable if that's the last we'll see of him. A better player than we have seen, for sure. Someone who has not benefited from our under performing squad & managers.....true also. But, have to add, he has not done all he could to make the situation better. Love his scruffy looking form, but hate his body language, gives up so quick when the tough starts. Anything around £9M, and that is a great deal. Bye Bye
