I rate Yan. The bigger picture is what happens if Zaha* gets him sent off after half hour. We lose Yan, we are going to look fragile, at a time when confidence has been growing.
Perhaps all this worry is for nothing.......I don't know......but that is my concern.

*any sort of ban or injury

Just done bit of research on last season. Swansea were in the **** this same game week last year:

Then a few weeks later, they were above the line:

To be fair with 4 games to go the ball was firmly in their court:

Game in hand too..though that was the City game that they lost heavlily and that is what ultimately sent them down. It was on the day of out cup semi too.

Good research, so my memory (for once) didn't let me down. Hughes came in at about the 30 game mark I think, Swansea were 4 points clear at that point and looking at last 5 games on not too bad form.

I am not saying we will turn to **** like Swansea did or that Carvahal is better than Hassenhuttl, I am just saying that any talk of us not having to worry about relegation is premature and selling an experienced pro (all be it one that doesn't fit the system we are trying to play) and relying on youngsters in a crucial position seems like quite a big risk to me

Obviously suits Saints financially to have fewer players and use our youngsters and fits in with the plan announced by Markus and Nicola, but sounds like this is being driven by Ralph now....so he's not being forced into anything.

So, this season.

Played 23 Points 22 -15GD

Last season

Played 22 Points 20 -11GD

Which brings me to the next question......
Who's worse, last years bottom 3, or this years current bottom 3?

Looking at the last 6 games our form is only bettered by Man U, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spuds. We are on a par with Arsenal and Burnley... Hopefully this will continue

Anyone think Long will stay in the summer? I've been critical of him and I would probably move him on, but I think his pace and work ethic is something Hassenhuttl looks for, and Long would be fairly content being a third-choice striker (presuming we have three strikers) as it's been his role for the past few seasons. So that would avoid signing someone to come in and spend most of their time on the bench.

This is my though too, everyone complaining we need Cedric against these big players... But only Murphy has really given Valery a skinning.
Valery has performed better than Cedric, and would never get dropped anywho.

I don't think Cedric was ever sent off though! Hope Valery has learnt from his experience and won't be again

He only has a year left on his contract and I imagine would be a good player for a team just promoted or a top team in the championship. He has saleable value, so as a business it makes sense to cash in.
Also we have a player similar in speed in obafemi, all a Bit raw but who I would say is a better all round finisher.

Slimani is awful. He's available because, in the past two seasons, he has been deemed to be not good enough for Newcastle, and not good enough for a Fenerbache side that is in danger of relegation. Cannot imagine we'd be interested in another old, unproductive striker.
