More rumours:

- Andy Carroll has been admitted to a drug clinic in UK to treat a cocaine addiction.
- Rodgers and Henderson to sign new deals shortly.
- Suarez to follow suit as well ...

Only way Suarez will sign that is if the release clause is a lower amount then (ie, £40m rather than £60m). He won't sign something with a £60m release clause without a payrise when h thought the previous contained a £40m clause.

IMO, if a new deal is reached then he'll get a payrise to sweeten the agreement. However, I can't see him signing unless we either get or look like getting top four (depending on whether we wait until the summer or not)
 
Coutinho needs a more advanced contract. Like our other key players (Gerrard, Suarez). Not as high as those guys better to show we respect him and mean business with him, and to reward him. Maybe do this at the end of the season. Sturridge to.
 
the only new contract henderson would sign is to extend his 60k per week... he's already on too much.

coutinho is reputedly only on 20k.... imagine that!

finally we dodged no bullets on carroll...disaster from day one

Not saying we didn't suffer any friendly fire, just this current bullet, if true as been dodged..

I googled Andy Carroll and stories come up about him going to rehab, but for his heel injury. My theory, someone saw rehab, made a joke of it on twitter and it's taken off from there.

The media would have a field day with a English player going to rehab for a cocaine habit, especially Carroll considering how they ran stories about his partying and drinking. Only difference is, he was at Liverpool / Newcastle then and wasn't managed by a media darling <whistle>
 
He is a nutter, but a good player. I actually bought him on FIFA with LFC, coincidence, I think not!

Liverpool have been cleared to sign Jeremy Menez in the January transfer window after he was kicked out of the PSG side.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is known to be a long-term fan of Menez, who was linked with a £10million move to Anfield over the summer.

The France international ended up staying put, but he now looks almost certain to depart PSG when the window opens after a row with manager Laurent Blanc.

Menez stormed off the bench and made his way home in the closing stages of PSG's Champions League win over Benfica - after Blanc refused to bring him on.Blanc has now reportedly banned the player from first-team training, and Liverpool are now ready to swoop in January to take him away from Ligue 1.

Rodgers is thought to be preparing a £5million bid, and despite interest from former club Monaco, the 26-year-old would prefer a switch to the Premier League.

Arsenal and Manchester United have previously been linked with Menez who scored eight goals last season and picked up 11 assists as PSG won the French league.

Another Striker and it is Traore who is a huge due ( think he is 6'6)

Liverpool target Lacina Traore is set to leave Anzhi Makhachkala in the January transfer window.

The striker is the last big name at the club following dramatic cost cutting measures that led to the likes of Samuel Eto'o and Willian leaving.

Chelsea signed the pair and now another Anzhi star could be on the move, with Traore expected to follow them out the exit door.

The 23-year-old has scored 13 in 27 league matches for the club, leading to interest from elsewhere.

Liverpool are said to be keen and the Ivorian's representative Dmitry Selyuk told Izvestia: "In case of a decent proposal that satisfies all the parties, Lacina can change clubs next winter.

"The demand for Traore both in Russia and in Europe is quite good."

Menez could definitely be a shrewd signing - no doubt he has the ability but questions over his attitude and consistency. He would go in the 'Sturridge/Moses' category in that he may not be world class but they have great ability and more importantly, he is an upgrade on what we currently have.

He is also 27 I believe? Last chance saloon in terms of playing, being on the national team, etc.

Absolutely - another player with a point to prove! But also, he comes from a big club so he has that experience so he shouldn't be over-awed at the prospect of playing for LFC.

and was at Roma before. Would be interesting. BUT with that being said, Sakho, Pastore, Menez, think since we got Sakho, we suddenly want all these PSG players.....

These are the players we should be targeting - not just from PSG but the other super rich clubs with an abundance of quality in their squads.

Both Menez and Pastore are reportedly unhappy so could be looking for moves - and at cut prices ...

Doubt we'll get them in January as I think Rodgers wants a DM first and foremost.

THere are some other DM's out there.... Fernando from Shaktar, I think it is also Fernando from Porto, Matic from Benfica, Mario Suarez from Atleti, Lassana Diarra I think just moved but would have been awesome, Romulo or Rafael Carioca from the russian league ( I think both with Spartak?), Gonalons from Lyon.

in other words, options.
