Everton wouldnt do business with us.

Barkley must stay where he is. It will be better for the England team. If he goes to a higher team and ends up on the bench he wont reach his full potential.

Balls to Engerland, this fella is going to be brilliant I'd throw money at Everton in January before he becomes too expensive.

Lucas Digne would have been a fantastic signing IMO. A real technical full back, one that Rodgers needs in this system.

Can't see him leaving PSG though or PSG wanting to sell him - he's seen as the brightest prospect coming out of France ...

Doesn't seem to be doing much wrong right now.
However, there's no chance we'd be able to sign him.
If Everton continue to progress then I can't see him going anywhere, if they don't do much in the next couple of years, and they're in need of some money, then he could be sold, but by then (if development goes to plan), he'd be one of the best Midfielders in the country and will most likely end up at Chelsea, City or United.

Optimistic! But I do agree with the concept - look at the huge squads of PSG, City etc and we will find great bargains.

PSG alone - Matuidi (contract expiring) and Pastore (unhappy). There's our new central midfield :)

  11. I agree it is optimistic but I'm sure there will be players from clubs with large squads that want game time. Not that I'm keen on them but maybe a lot of loan deals?

I'd be happy with just Alonso <whistle>

PS...what you reckon to Clough / McClaren?

Do we get a discount for repeat business with PSG? If we buy anymore surely we'd qualify for a 10% off loyalty card?

Happy Clough has gone really. Shouldn't have been appointed in the first place - no real credentials and I suspect he only got the job because of his name.

Would have liked a more ambitious manager - Poyet, Di Matteo but I suspect these were simply out of our league.

McLaren - I'm happy with him really. He's know the club inside and out, has great experience and is probably the most experienced coach we could have got. Will be bringing in some good coaches with him (Eric Steele - ex MUFC GK coach for starters!).

    -----------

Alonso would be good but we need more than that. We need a destroyer, one with bundles of energy. I'm not saying Lucas is a poor player but this system is really not suited to him. He'd be better in a team like Barca who have the majority of the possession and he's required from time to time just to nick the ball and pass it on.

Capoue would have been ideal and at such a good price, but Matuidi and M'Vila would be great alternatives.

Unfortunately not. PSG have opted for a Nando's style loyalty card - we need to buy 2 more players before we get 1/4 of a player. <ok>

I'll have a Double Breast in Pita bread, Hot Piri Piri sauce, and a side order of Pastore!

  16. I get what you are saying (you would prefer a Mascherano to Alonso as that is more in tune with what we need) but would you not take Xabi back? Especially at a reported £3m?

I think Derby appointing McClaren is very funny. It wasn't too long ago that Derby fans were giving the Forest fans **** about him being their manager <laugh> I also think Clough's sacking was harsh. You stuck by him through the tough times but then sacked him once he'd steadied the ship, he deserved a bit of time and respect IMO.

That's a tough one. Personally, we need both! But I think having a DM who actually protects the back 4 and stops them from having so many shots would be number one on my list!

But I'd definitely welcome Alonso. Play him as a proper deep lying playmaker and let Stevie get up the pitch - just keep him away from that deeper role.

Haha - I do rate McLaren although his recent record has been poor but he'll 'steady the ship' so to speak.

Clough hasn't improved us - ok, maybe he's improved our points over the seasons but not my much and we're still miles away from the play offs. He hasn't really shown signs of any real progression since he's been here.

  19. Weren't you in the drop zone when he took over? Helped you to survive for two seasons? Now you are not part of relegation fights? That's improvement in my book. I know a few Derby fans and most do not agree with his sacking, only one does but he never liked or wanted him.

McClaren has a decent record outside of England. His record at Boro wasn't bad but nor was it great.
