Doc, WJ you watch a number of the U23 games and from memory Eddie played in those teams, occasionally? If he did was he that much better than the U23 forwards we have?
Eric Eddie was decent and played like a CF and was mobile and had pace but he saw his job to try and run onto something and finish it. Was never involved in build up and creation. He is faster than Edmondson and will always score more, but like WJ says Edmondson is a unit and tackles back. However Bielsa will never pick him because he isnt as mobile as say Che Adams who has similar attributes but is quicker and more powerful. Eddie wasnt a replacement for Bamford and team play, so he either didnt want to learn from Bielsa or couldn't do it. The strikers we're being connected with all have pace and power but chase and harry the opposition and they're taller than Eddie
heard an interview with Phil Hay who says Edmondson is the only U23 regular who hasnt made it to first team training status. Shacks, Gotts, Davies, Alfie are now part of the first team, Ryan isnt and Hay reckons its because he had a bad Summer when the others came back fitter and faster Ryan didnt and had to go on a crash course. Be interesting to see if Bielsa sends him out on loan, even Stevens is now first team winger although his performance today was pretty shocking
the best strikers who have played for the U23s the last 3 seasons and stood out as being a class above were Grot who scored 3 stunning goals in 2 appearances, Cibicki who played one half and smashed 2 screamers, Brown who scored 8 last season and at times was unplayable, Bamford who excelled and scored with ease on his recovery and Eddie who you know will be a great striker. But Roberts didnt really stand out even though he scored one but was bursting a gut to try and prove he was a top CF and he isnt.
