Just got a message from a mate, says, he heard we’re after some German kid, can’t see anything online though, anyone heard anything similar?

I think Rosenior means more height spread across the team to defend set-pieces. Putting Greaves at left-back allows him to play McLoughlin as well whilst still playing a back-four.

Starting to think this interpretation is deliberate. Rosenior specifically said yesterday that Fleming was in his thinking long term but needed to get the balance of the rest of the team (ie height elsewhere) right before he could consider him, hence him going out to get games

I remember Brownie or Bruce saying that you need to be a big side to escape this division . I think that meant tall and strong. Yes I know Messi wasn’t ! If you combine those skills with decent ball control and craft you should be up there. Dawson was way more experienced and physically stronger than Fleming is for now - you can’t be sentimental over the local lad bit . As much as I like to see locals play if you get some extra benefit from a buy then you do it.

I think it's a bit harsh to say Fleming is particularly poor defensively or that he can't play in a back four, but his lack of games played in his career is an issue. He still has the feel of an academy player who you hope will make it rather than someone who already has. That's not a slight on his abilities, just on his progress in terms of football played.

I think it speaks volumes that Rosenior prefers a left footed centre back at left back over 2 actual left backs. I'm not buying the whole height thing either, I just don't think he rates Fleming or Elder enough.
Sure I read Ros did exactly the same at Derby, playing a centre back there, instead of a highly rated, popular though not so tall left back.
Personally, in the short term I think Elder has the edge anyway defensively. Clearly Ros does too so makes perfect sense to go out on loan and get some game time in.

Posh signed a keeper on loan, you’d imagine that means Harv Cartwright is coming back to go elsewhere or play 3rd fiddle again

This height thing at left back is bollocks. How tall was Andy Dawson? He was a pretty decent left back that played in the PL.
In the last couple of games Greaves has been coming centrally to head away goalie drop kicks, goal kicks and the like. I think that’s what his height is needed for, not his regular LB duties.
