We'll be able to compare records at the end of the season, but it's worth remembering Oscar is currently doing it in a lower mid table side whereas Abel played in a side competing at the top end and creating more chances.
I think Oscar would already have 20 if he had Robertson, Moses, Snodgrass, prime Hudds putting in balls for him.

I’m guessing you weren’t that overjoyed with big Billy’s style of play either? It takes all sorts as a striker, Oscar will never be a Sean Long but I wouldn’t want or expect him to be. I’m just very happy that we have him here, as without his goals this season we’d be in real trouble.
well maybe Connolly is a curry and chips sort of guy and not a prosecco and milanese pizza with truffles sort of guy, It takes all types to make a Championship team of note. And may I add there is nothing wrong with curry and chips, and might in many cases be Vegan, what more oould one ask

Interesting article on Connolly. Couple of years old but suggesting he offers a great deal outside the obvious statistics of goals and assists, could be why he is worth the gamble for Rosie suiting how he wants to play.

I only saw the back end of his time with us and was way too young to appreciate or even criticise his style of play but I take your point. However it was a very different style of football back then, at Boothferry Park and in the top flight. I'm not sure how well he would be doing in the Championship now, I guess we will never know.
I saw him play many times, he was a full on weapon
Football might not have been so artful back then but I’d guarantee that we had more laughs, especially when Billy was heading a keeper into the back of his net!
Fair to say that if Big Billy was in the championship now then he'd be suspended.
Not sure about that, I’d rather he’d scored 5 or 6 sweetly hit goals than 11 scuffers.
The Championship and Clubs within it will be breathing a huge sigh of relief that he's long gone..Hardest ****er you've ever seen on a football pitch.
Actually I’m not sure about that, our chances created under Steve Bruce were always pitifully small in number. Was it 13/14 or 14/15 where every other team in the division had completed more successful balls through the defence in a single match than we managed over the course of the entire season.
I seem to recall us carrying on much the same after relegation, low scoring team (for a top challenging team) but being very tight.
I have heard Tufan will be departing. Turkey bound. Sadly he has not lived up to expectations and very similar to the Watford situation.
Having just looked we were 4th top scorers and 3rd best defence that season so probably creating more than I’ve given credit for there.
That team was ridiculous at times. We won a fair few games scoring 4, 5 or 6 goals. Like the League 1 McCann team we had some bad runs but the rest of the time blew teams away. Hernandez was an excellent penalty box finisher which made him a great goalscorer in that team, but he struggled when he didn't have an overpowered team behind him to tee him up.
I'd say Oscar is similar in his poaching, but this team, so far at least, doesn't create as much as that one. On the other hand, he also offers a lot in general play, which was Abel's big weak point for me.

Oscar is a totally different style of player, he is more about the physicality of the game, but argue all you want he is still getting that round thing in the net.
Big Billy, well he was an upgrade further on the physicality side of things, when that kind of football was allowed, Peter Beardsley spoke highly of him, going as far as to say he was his favourite player to play alongside.
Strikers come in all sizes shapes and ability, but they are generally measured on their ability to score goals, no matter how they go in.

That’s possible, doesn’t change the fact Abel was/is a better player than Oscar
Nope. Different, absolutely. Better? Depends what you’re using as a yard stick.
