Brentford did it well because their owner Matt Bentham also owns FC Midtjylland in Denmark and they swapped players, youngsters and, on occasion, staff. Watford do it with Udinese and Brighton are linked with Union St Gilloise. In fact, many English owned clubs have owners that own other clubs too.

Marinakis owns Forest and Olympiacos, Vincent Tan owns Cardiff and FK Sarajevo and KV Kortrijk in Belgium, the fella who owns Sheffield United also owns Beerschot Antwerp, Al-Hilal, Chateauroux and Kerala United. Chien Lee, who was very interested in buying us and almost did, owns Barnsley and is the co owner of FC Thun, KV Oostende, AS Nancy, Esbjerg FC, FC Den Bosch, FC 1. Kaiserslauten and until it was taken over by Ineos, OGC Nice.

If done properly, it can be very lucrative and an easy way to secure players without having to compete with other clubs. We've already had discussions with Juventus and I believe Fenerbahce too, which is why I think there's a potential for an exciting centre forward to come in on loan during the window.

The Junior guy on loan?

It looks like there's a keenness on both sides to sort something out. An agreement to loan players would be amazing given the talent in that youth set up, but even an annual friendly would be amazing and generate a decent amount of income for us.

The whole set up would be fantastic, some of the things we could have only dreamed of not so long ago. Would be very interesting if both came off ( not sure we'd want both though and I think the turkey link is the more likely )

For the ITK guys, do you hear much about Tufan and Sinik? Always seem to be together, and neither seem particularly fancied by the manager. Are they well liked around the place/do they train well/are they likely to leave?

I think both are likely to leave on loan in January.

Apparently, Tufan drove Acun mad about signing Sinik, mainly because he wanted to share a house with him.

Only if the bids come in. Ozan started the last game and Rosie speaks very highly of him, I’d be surprised if he left unless a very good offer came in given we paid in excess of £3.5m for him. We paid a similar fee for Sinik, who don’t forget was out injured for a good long while and is still getting back to full match fitness.

He served a purpose at the time, but we how to be setting our sites higher now.
I'm sure I remember Norwich fans were delighted to see the back of Darnborough when he came to us.

Turns out they were right.
8 of the team who did very well last night came into the team under Grant McCann and 7 of them I think were recruited by Lee Darnborough (Greaves the exception). They are keeping out of the team several more recent recruits who I suspect Lee Darnborough had little to do with, Given he's had not much money to play with, I don't think he's done too badly! Oh and of the 3 recruits in the team more recent than the McCann era, (Christie, Seri, Oscar) , I wouldn't be surprised if Christie was a Darnborough recruit?

Well that is a telling stat. Which could lead one to believe that many on here, including me, who are shall we say a little negative on Darborough are wrong? Maybe Darborough was providing the right tools and it was the on the field management team that were not reading the instructions that came with the tools?

he’s done ****e in hindsight, to push on as a top 6 club a lot of those players won’t be starting. We won’t push on just yet because there’s too many of those who are playing on a wing and a prayer. Need replacing with higher calibre players to see us progress.

I think people misunderstand Darnborough's role slightly. He's head of recruitment, but that doesn't mean he's personally identifying players I don't think. We have a chief scout who works under him and presumably a team of scouts under that. The chief scout works with the manager of the team to understand what kinds of players he wants and tries to find them. I think Darnborough's role is heading it all up, probably a lot of standard management type stuff.
