I've never been Coyle's biggest fan but in the last few weeks, he's been fantastic. He's improved a lot under Rosie, as many of our players have and I'd be happy to see him get a new deal (not just trigger his option year).

This seems to be the state of the Coyle debate almost all the time: some people saying he's **** and other people pointing out he's playing well at the moment. Seems to me whenever he plays he does well but it gets easily forgotten. Christie is brilliant and with the two of them we should be absolutely fine.

he's conceded his first goal

He pretty much played as well as you could expect from someone making their pro debut. He didn't have loads to do throughout the game and he wasn't at fault for their goal. He commands his area really well for a young keeper, he's positive, and decisive and made a really good reflex save.

It's hard to see why there wasn't a number of L2 sides after him in January, he looked more than capable at that level

There was interest, we just wanted to keep him, he will be going on loan next season

We're a team of misfits. Rosie has a job on his hands over the next window. We have no natural width, one of our two strikers appears to be permanently crocked, the other, when not also injured seems to blow hot and cold. It looks to me like Coyle's carrying an injury and is playing out of necessity, I suspect we wouldn't have conceded 1 of Sunderland's last 2 goals if we had a proper right back playing in that position. Pelkas and Ebiowei needs to return from whence they came.

Will any of the out of contract players be offered new deals?

Out of Contract;
- A. Jones
- Doc
- Elder
- Coyle
- Covil
- Smith

The only one I can see potentially getting a new deal is Jones (would love Doc to stay, but would he want to if he's not getting much game time?)

With the loanees also going back;
- Connolly
- Pelkas
- Ebiowei
- Darlow
- Baxter

And some fringe players;
- Figs (not even making the bench?)
- Woods
- Longman
- C. Jones(?)

Sounds like another busy window to me.
