Maybe we should have got him in as the first team coach to replace Cliff then..

Cliff was assistant first team coach.
Grant was first team coach, never 'manager' .

It seems to have gone unnoticed though that we seem to have retained Pennock, Richardson and the u23 and academy staff.

So there is some continuity for the time being.

Who was the first team coach?

Grant was Head Coach, I'm talking about the role under him, perhaps Shota would have been better served in that one.

You've still got 2 competing ego's.

Never gonna work.

Grant picked the team, under the structure as was with Darno as DOF. Now it's Shota under a different DOF - if not in name, certainly in role.

I think the Turkish account made a good point about him often facing distractions in his previous management jobs, I imagine he'll move into an advisory role if/when he isn't head coach anymore. As already he's making points to Acun about not signing has beens.

Grant picked the team. N0w it's Shota.

Competing egos is a good thing, you don't want yes men. Shota and Acun are still two competing egos regarding signings. It should work in a successful organisation.

It's done now anyway so meh. Shota's CV is hardly impressive and is a massive TWT.

He might be just what some of these younger lads need. Anyone who is Louis Van Gaal's assistant must be a good coach at the very least. Whether he has the other elements to take us to the level Acun desires makes it that TWT. Hopefully he remembers how LVG sets up defensively as he is one of the best in the world in that aspect.

Mate. I get that you're applying sceptical enquiry to anything that I say or otherwise comes out.

Not gonna change the fact that what I or you think doesn't make a **** of difference to bigger stuff going on.

What will happen will happen and if its good, great! and if it isn't it won't be.

Which is why I was saying maybe he should have been coming in as an assistant head coach/first team coach/assistant first team coach (whatever title you want to give to 2IC).

It's not a skeptical mind, it was a response to you saying he has the most impressive CV since Bruce which Slutsky and Silva would say no. Everyone's happy to talk up his CV which is fine and always good to be optimistic, but proof will be in the pudding.

His assistant has an impressive CV. Management teams often have different dynamics, his assistant may be the tactician, Shota may be the motivator. Fergie was often surrounded by top coaches he just knew always how to get the best out of his side.

If Acun wants to be the groom in a successful marriage then we're gonna have to let him make his changes and hell be judged in the long term.

I'd have kept McCann and I'd be prepared to bench KLP and refuse a move cos we have him tied for 2 1/2 years.

In a battle of wills the Allams won last time and Illicalli could now.

Absolutely. But we've appointed successful managers in the past with no where near the playing, coaching and managerial experience he has.

Who was McCann apart from an ex-Scummy player when he came to us?

His managerial experience was being a budget Darren Ferguson.

We're starting from a higher bar than that with Shota and it will take time.

And 10 points buffer is no guarantee of survival when the only reason you're 19this cos 2 teams below have been docked points and have more wins and draws in the league than we have.

I don't think it'll get to that, KLP will not push for a move, he may want it. But he will be more than happy to remain here until the club feels they can't say no.

Yes, McCann has definitely had the least experience of managers appointed over the last 15 years (maybe Phil Brown).

My point was just that he isn't our most experienced since Bruce, that's all. Silva came with a strong record as did Slutsky.

As said to someone else though, even without the points deductions we'd be 5 clear of the relegation zone so can't just hand wave what McCann did as being because of points deductions. But yes very risky changing managers when we're in this position so we'd want it to work out.

We're not in a black and white situation.

Yeah, you can side with posters/media with the emotional intelligence of a gnat and deny nuance.

I think you're better than that though.

Who am I siding with? On what?

I'm just saying that Shota's managerial CV isn't as strong as Slutsky or Silva.. that's all mate.

It's a wait and see on how he performs.
