Players who liked to go out too much or were prone to making stupid decisions both on and off the field get described as being weak mentally or have a poor mentality. The only things I've seen in articles are that Shaw isn't disciplined enough to keep himself fit, no mention of mental health problems. If Shaw does have certain issues, it may be because all parties concerned may want to keep things private rather than having the issues blasted out of all proportion. That's my take.

PS: I thought I read somewhere that Shaw feels physically fitter than ever before. I feel a January loan coming on, Someone like Villa if they are interested.

Well that's understandable, but then doesn't tally with Mourinho/LVG publically calling him out on his lack of fitness and being too fat. If he does have depression/other mental health issues then I don't see why his manager would be commenting publically on his lack of fitness/dedication.

Precisely and, like him or not, one thing Mourinho is very good at is protecting his players and keeping the spotlight off them, usually by turning the attention to himself. If Shaw is really struggling with a mental health issue then I would assume Mourinho is aware of it and wouldn't call him out publically like that. From what you have said and what has happened publically and putting 2 and 2 together I would guess that Shaw is homesick and is weak mentally (ie he can't cope with the pressure involved with playing for Man Utd and not having people he grew up with close by) but is not suffering from a mental health issue. I could be completely wrong but that is how it would appear to me.
 
Giroud is quality and so underrated, can't see us getting him though. Reckon he will end up at Everton.

Suffers from depression, why he gets down and ends up eating loads of ****. Which ends up making him out weight on. He misses the closeness here
 
If Rose leaves then I can see Spurs being very interested in Bertrand.
Which would leave us to sign Shaw as a replacement.

I like Targett and McQueen but feel that we'd be a weaker side without replacing Bertrand should he be sold. Not sure about Pied but think someone (possibly Beef?) said that he was able to play there.

Agree. Neither target or McQueen are particularly quick.
