I
I'll have even less understanding of sending Jordi out on loan if we'd consider letting Dickie go now...

I'll be surprised if we let anyone decent go at this point unless really huge amounts are offered, when we do have a real chance of getting into the PL next season if we keep this team together for the rest of this one.

This time I really meant Dykes

I see that free-scoring goal machine that is one Jordan Hugill has now gone on loan to Cardiff.

Why would signing Sanderson help if we lost him. Confused.com.
Sorry...two separate thoughts.
1.. The twittersphere has gone wild over Lyndon Dykes scoring a brace yesterday. Everyone wants to buy him...Burnley, Rangers, Brighton etc.

2. Oslo pointed out Dickie has 9 yellows and do has 3 or 4 more matches ( week 32?) not to get another one that takes him to 10yellows and a two match suspension.

If he is to have 2 vital matches suspended, the we need someone to take his place.

Hope that explains my rather confusing post Stan

Apparently we paid £2m for Dykes. If they want to pay say, £12m for him, fine by me. He was great yesterday, and perhaps can be improved with good coaching, but he’s not PL standard by a mile. And I think PL teams will know this. Hope we keep him because it would be very inconvenient to lose him at this stage of the season, at this time in the window.

But then you said that explained why we got another centre back?

Because we need back up when Dickie is ( inevitably) suspended for two matches.

Sorry the conversation in my head sometimes never coherently makes it onto the page.

Hope it is clear now Col

Exactly...I would bite your hand off for 10 -12 million for Dykes ( as I agree with you Stan)...But where does it leaves us with the ( most) important part of season to go with only Austin snd Gray as strikers.

Ain't going to cut the mustard

Calm down he ain't going anywhere in this window, all those clubs are interested in other strikers from abroad. Its all just twitter **** and paper cack, it's the same every window 24 hours before it closes. I seriously doubt anyone will be leaving except on loan, I'm more worried we haven't got in the attacking midfielder we were meant to get !

Not sure we need any more midfielders.

Was has Warbs been trying desperately to get one then ? Lawrence was a pipedream, we were never gonna be able to buy him, it was ludicrous offering a derisory offer even with the state Derby are in. I can't understand why we've offered 2 such low offers for Paterson, they are never gonna sell him for that after triggering a 1 Yr extension to his contract. If Warbs wants him then pay the asking price ffs, would we sell one of our players for half the asking price ? Shankley said when your at the top , strengthen. It's how you improve. We're not at the top and if Chair or Willock get a serious injury it leaves us on a knifedge as far as creativity and attacking midfielders go, I'm finding our actions during this window rather puzzling. Hopefully something comes to fruition tomorrow and we can put our heads down and power on towards the finish line

We don't need midfielders. Not sure we need anybody, really. A back-up striker maybe, but we've done so well with this cheapskate squad, I wouldn't want to risk disrupting it with some Billy Big-Bollocks signing.

Let's go with what we have.
A winger that changes the game...especially if we are using Uncs week in week out as a wing back.

Is McCallum on his way back...only club know that...and it would change our plans if it were

Was it done in a desperate way? Not sure.
We don't know whether (heaven forbid) Willock has something concerning going on or that Chair's injury is a little more serious than we realise.

I actually think we're possibly slightly over performing with this squad and don't really need to add to it, (as automatic promotion is still unlikely in my opnion), apart from another striker possibly.
We always have an eye on the purse strings too.
