So if it isn’t sorted now then in the summer he only has a year left on his deal??
then sell him now
then sell him now
Any 2.5 year deal signed now would start in January 2021 and end in June 2023 with the option of aan extra year for the club. They want to add another year to his contract, they're not going to just add six months and have it finish in January.
Nobody tells the Allams how to conduct their contract negotiations.Worth remembering that six of those goals came from KLP before he was banned from starting, four from Eaves who's now injured and three from Adelekun who's now gone.
I agree that we've done good business this window, though sorting the KLP situation would be the best bit of business we could do.

I don't see how anybody would think anything different.
are you saying that the contract will start at the same time as the present contract? He wants the deal to not be extended, the club want it extended by one year, how does your compromise work?

Regardless, the fact that we can't agree to tying down a player like him because of something the club want, as opposed to the player, is daft. Yeah, alright, he could get on and play and let it take care of itself etc, but you have to ask if the problems caused by the extra year are worth losing a player of his calibre. If he does well and goes again next year, we can maybe renegotiate.
The football has to come first, not the principles of the Allam family.
So you are saying that KLP's present contract ends in June 2022 and Hull City want the new contract to end in June 2023?The demand is that he extends his existing contract term by one year.
So you are saying that KLP's present contract ends in June 2022 and Hull City want the new contract to end in June 2023?
Both would have an option for the club to extend by another year.
So KLP wants more money but no change in when the contract ends.

So why did he sign the original contract?Bingo
He's already agreed to not take this seasons pay rise to get back into the starting XI, despite the club being contractually obliged to give him it and now they want to extend the deal as well.
The claims that this is about greed are absolute nonsense, he's being treated very poorly.
I can understand those that think he should should accept any deal, however **** it is, just to get back in the starting XI and hopefully get improved terms in the future, but that really isn't a clever way to treat your most promising players.
The only thing our transfer activity has shown me so far is the fact that our tight arsed owners dont want to do anything more than give something that’s been up up for sale for years another lick of cheap paint. If that means potentially staying in this ****ty league for fcuk knows how long and in the process losing the best young prospect we’ve arguably had since Bowen left... so be it.
So why did he sign the original contract?
He must have not been so confident then.
I must admit it's a strange situation. If he wants to sign a new contract now which ends in June 2022 (plus an extra option of one year by the club) I would describe that contract as being 18 months NOT two years.
I would have thought it was sensible that, if you offered a player more money, it would be in return for a longer contract.
In KLPs case the wages listed on facebook show that he's on a ridiculously low wage for his performances now.
So City, like most clubs, are offering more money but want an extended contract at the risk of pissing him off.He signed it because it was an improvement on the current contract he had. The one he's been offered recently is an improvement on his current one but his representative wants the improved deal but on the same length
I don't remember seeing one person accuse him of being greedy, if I've missed that then I apologise
