What's that got to do with it, Bruce had left. Phelan was in charge, why would he just buy Bruce's targets. If we had had a decent transfer kitty, then bring in Marshall might have made sense, but we didn't, Ehab only made £18M available, but when you don't have enough out field players, to buy another keeper when we already had 5, McGregor/Jak/Kuciak/Watson/Mannion for me is poor management.

do you really believe Phelan bought any of them - all the players we signed were well documented as Brucies targets - Ehab just went down the list and did the deals - Brucie left because Ehab wouldn't sanction Powell - and he was right

You think the only reason Bruce left was because he didn't sanction Powell, sorry to say that is nonsense, it goes much deeper than that. You maybe right and the list was compiled by Bruce, but that was based on Bruce having a war chest that he was happy with to make us competitive in the EPL.

The amount Ehab said he would make available to Bruce in Bruce's opinion was not enough, and I would agree. Bruce's wish list was probably based on him getting a lot more money that £18M, and Marshall was included in that list. But only getting £18M even Bruce if he had stayed I am sure he wouldn't have added Marshall, he would have gone for better out field players.

There's a lot of guesswork here.

I said at the time and I still think the same; Mick Phelan has earned decent money from football, so why did he sell his footballing soul to the Allams?

We saw Phelan take the SKY dollar and make an extremely embarrassing appearance on Silva's night. He wasn't even a good No. 2 (for us), a far worse manager/coach; he was used by the owners, but, to be fair, he wasn't the first.

No sympathy for him. Get behind Silva.

How anyone could even argue about this is beyond me. It really isn't difficult, you just need to look at how many goals Marshall conceded. You can blame the defenders all you like but letting five in against Bournemouth and three against Sunderland is not the hallmark of a great keeper. I just wish Jak had been brought in a few games ago. What a difference Jak in goal and Abel up front could have made in those November / December games. Never mind, we're on the right track now with a manager who seems to know his onions.

It was 6 against Bournemouth. Agree with the rest though.

Wasn't Marshalls fault.

It was the championship defenders in front of him.

It was the Allams.

It was Alex Bruce.

He wasn't given long enough.

It wasn't Phelans fault, it was Bruce who bought him. Encouraged by the Allams.

Deffo wasn't that he's not as good as Jak.

Don't know how to put the link on here but have a look at the BBC website for a OPTA report on goalkeepers. Should settle a few arguments on here (but probably wont) about who should be in goal for the remainder of the season

Love that..... if everyone brought to the table what Eldin does, we'd be a top half side. The will to succeed sometimes balances any lack of skill. For me as a long time supporter our goalkeepers have always given me great memories and great days, from McKechnie to Wealands, to Bo and Tony Norman and now to Eldin Jakupovich. As a club we've been invariable lucky with keepers.
