You'll sort it out pal. Just funny watching you lot get abit nervous about the season ahead. Hopefully we get up and you lot stay up. Need the derbys man.
He only has to live up to a 8m price tag - basically a very low end PL footballer. Be very very surprised if he doesn't.
Anyone thinking Hughes isn't a good deal at £8m needs to give me some of whatever they are smoking! Looked very good last year at Derby, probably their best player, young, versatile and did well with the U21's over the summer.
The risk is on injury record, but it's low risk as it's a squad game. I'd have been happy to see him arrive. I think we needed that, because Shelvey/Hayden may be first choice, they may not, but with no competition you risk them getting complacent. It's not like Hayden's looking at Colback worrying about his starting place.
Not so sure about that considering our record in recent derbies Baz But definitely mate, would rather have us both in the Prem all day long
I can sort you out mate, to be fair I was high when I wrote that comment. My argument is that you must want whatever every other manager/owner in the premier league is smoking too. All that time he's been bigged up (3/4 years?) Yet nobody took a punt on him til Watford and Derby let him leave for 8 mil. Would I have liked him as cover? Ye worth a go. Will he be a steal at 8 mill? Na, don't think so.
We shall see, Id argue the stats suggest a little different. However I have bought a hat made of sugar paper just in case
From the Shields Gazette. "Newcastle United are hoping to push through a deal for England Under-21 international Jacob Murphy this weekend, but must significantly increase their bid to get the Norwich winger on board. Rafa Benitez has placed the youngster at the top of his transfer wishlist after a frustrating summer so far in the market. And Lee Charnley has been tasked with sealing the deal, with the Canaries believed to be asking for around £10million with a further £2million in add ons. For this and more rumours, see below... Read more at: http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport...pool-and-chelsea-make-the-headlines-1-8650185" No idea where they get the figures from but IF correct then no reason not to complete the deal asap.
If we didn't get him at £10-£12m, then we need to sack Charnley. If he got snapped up for £16m+, then I'd understand the hesitance. But at the same price or less than Gayle or Ritchie it's a no-brainer.
Agree i wouldn't pay £16m up front but if its incentivised with clauses spread over a few years could be worth it.
The Shields Gazette is, I think, the most reliable source of information regarding our transfers, much more so than Sky or BBC
You can't blame Norwich for digging their heels in but I do hope there's something bigger on Rafa's wish list.
**** me, if he's at the top of the list I hate to think who's further down ! Not saying he'll be a bad addition to the squad, far from it but I would've hoped we would have had a creative midfielder or a goal scorer ahead of a ****ing winger like! Maybe he's joint top of the list with a couple of others!
I reckon we're all gonna have to bite down on a stick til 1st September. In good news, we might all have a reason to watch Deadline Day.
I'm pretty sure that's not a direct quote from Rafa. Rather it's some journo eeking out a whole article from one scrap of information by adding a bunch of words around it to pad it out.
