Generally I read every post on every thread, but this one really is just nonsense. Arguing over semantics and nonsense rather than discussing it.

The reason I'm interested in this is because I want to actually discuss a way forward. I'd like to talk about what the actual benefits are of a boycott but there doesn't even see to be room on the board for a sensible discussion about that at the moment because every Huddersfield thread is just daft bickering about whether or not the protest is cool enough for certain people.

I'll tell you what the way forward definitely isn't: and that's 3 pages of arguing over bugger all. I certainly aren't wanting to look smart or anything I just want all this crap to get out the way so we can debate how to sort this out. We all want the same thing don't we?

What I wrote was "akin to the Nazi doctrine of if you are not with us then you must be against us.", which is a very narrow and generalist part of their overall manifesto and doctrine, which included very bad things that you clearly allude to. Misrepresenting me simply demeans your own point.

Fine. But accept that you may also being interpreting . . . That's what we do and how we reach our opinions; although I have yet to have someone come back and correct me when I have challenged them to re-read and verify what they accuse me of. it's a common feature of these boards, when folk post first and read thoroughly later.

It would appear not.Infact I think this thread makes it obvious people are very divided on what we want and what people would be prepared to do.Do not wish to be pessimistic but will be crap in the stadium and probably a non event outside.Pity we cannot have a chance to turn up to see the players off to show them who they are playing for.
One last word of caution.Anyone who is going to Udders needs to be very careful with their use of social media and mobiles.If things do kick off there will be some quick responses from the authorities.
I would suggest go in peace and go shopping.I strongly predict road blocks and any groups in team colours will be prevented from entering the town.The use of phone cameras to record police intervention will protect the public and the police.If you are not doing anything wrong etc....

There are several positives to a boycott.
It will be seen nationally the reason will be discussed reported and brought to public attention
It will send a message to west yorkshire police. Basically they will look silly not just on the inter net boards to the few dozen who post regularly but nationally. They really do not want that to happen.

Turning up and causing any trouble what so ever will simply mean WYMP were absolutely right. It will not matter what provocation there may or may not have been it will not matter what you feel to be right. To the majority of people the police will have been right.

It is important that those who choose to go behave impeccably support the team and celebrate 3 points. Without doubt the best way to reply to an appalling decision.

What I've repeatedly said is that, in the event that the police have intelligence that clearly shows a group liable to commit criminal offences, they should target that group and leave the rest of us alone. What I've also added is that I can think of very few occasions where the Police will ever have such evidence. What they have for the Huddersfield game certainly doesn't amount to any evidence at all.

In context, the quote is in response to somebody asking the question, it's certainly not a term that would have come to my mind and there are more appropriate terms.

The answer is still the same. There has been no formal, ratified vote so it can't be the same, but there's been a series of straw polls which show the bulk of people (that took part in them) were in favour of a boycott. People choosing to go may not like it, but there are similarities when people in dispute go against (the perceived) majority.

I haven't advocated killing their first born, or even tutting heavily, so answering a direct question can hardly be seen as persecution.

I think it's more a case that some people will go whatever the consequences, and some people just like to try to be controversial or offended.

Thousands walking by indifferently.
95% of people are only interested in things that affect them and will not inconvinience themselves for any kind of greater good.

This should be done at Hartshead Services and at Udders and the banner should be shown everytime the Sky Cameras are on the away fans, that way it will get national coverage. Saturday's protest got **** all national coverage. The FSF should also continue the legal action and sue WYP for breaching the human rights of football supporters

Agreed. I think some people simply don't want a debate to occur.

How about we try listing the pro's and cons of a boycott?

Pro's.

It could raise the profile of the issue, although that's debatable.
It leaves WYP with nobody to provoke to generate an issue in front of the Sky cameras.

Cons.

Some people will attend anyway, so it'd never be 100%
It reduces the support for the team in a key game. Although the effects of the bubble will do that anyway.
It can't be done in isolation, so protests/actions in the Town will provide WyP with the opportunity they're looking for to provoke a negative response.


My personal choice is a limited boycott, so the Police still have to commit their resources for just a few people. I also think people should avoid getting on the coaches for the trip back so the Police are seen escorting empty coaches away from the ground.

The protest at the KC was aimed at getting media coverage of the issue. It was very successful in that with International media coverage. Not bad for a group of youngsters at very short notice. Credit to them.
