Not being a WUM I don't think it's a good move... Of course it's just my opinion but it's not who you needed, Martinez and Rodgers are not the calibre Liverpool need, for me, it should have been Rafa all day long.

What an absolute load of tosh. Yeah, lets go back to the man that was in charge for years and couldn't even get close to the title. Look what happened when you harped back to the past with your last Manager. Dalglish was a sentimental appointment and the old fool was so out of touch, he didn't even know how to talk to Journalists. Embarrassing.

Liverpool have finally realized they're not a big Club anymore and have acted accordingly. I think its a good appointment. A low caliber Manager for a Mid-Sized Club with the Potential to improve and become a big Club once more.

A hidden wum, good try.

Knob jockey <ok> although I sort of agree with the first part <laugh> Rafa did in fairness get pretty close tho...and let's not forget Kennys LFC won more last year than 'Arry, Gollum, Wanger and Fungus put together...so sentimental or not he didn't do quite as bad as your load of "tosh" suggests eh.

This appointment shows the decline of Liverpool Football Club, you have gone from buying the best players in the world to a team of very average players, apart from Reina and Suarez. Having top football managers, to poaching Swansea City's Brendan Rodgers, a man with just 1 years experience.

Enjoy another few years of mediocre football, by what you are used too.

No longer a top football club in England, miles behind Spurs and Arsenal, a million miles behind Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City.

Ha ha, loving the Sunderland fans crying DOOMED DOOMED! Is it because no matter how long we wait this summer you'll be linked to nothing & no one because you truly are a never was club.

Sad, go away little Geordie Lites

I am actually a Liverpool fan as my 2nd team (Newcastle being 1st) so I don't take pleasure in slating them in any way, but I do have an opinion which has been based over watching their games for the last few seasons, in fact, pretty much the only time i've stood and thought "wow" was the 2009 season where you just tore every single team apart (Utd, Real Madrid etc) playing unstoppable football, so I'll always have a bias for Rafa.
The football under Kenny when he stepped in as caretaker manager was also pretty damn special (Fulham away, I remember watching thinking this is amazing! LFC are unbeatable!) but then it all went wrong when he signed the contract, and the players signed were not LFC standard (Downing is mid-table, I still think of LFC as a top 6 club)

You all do make valid points, but that's the beauty of football, if we were sitting in a pub chatting about this, it would make a good debate.

I don't like watching teams suffer, trust me, after witnessing us under an absolutely terrible regime of managers (Souness, Roeder, Allardyce, Kinnear) I don't want LFC to go down that route - maybe im wrong, and maybe Rodgers will have them playing better football, we will wait and see, the excitement of football is what makes this all so interesting.

For what it's worth Rodgers is far better than the managers I mentioned above though! I like the bloke I just don't want it to end up pear shaped for him/LFC.

Humm.

I'm happier its him than Martinez,

I mean you're not born a big club manager - big clubs have to give you the chance.

This is his and he might just nail it!

Not sure what to think really.

It could be a great shout. Not sure.

Thats my thoughts exactly. Its one big massive gamble to take a manager who has done nothing in the game to deserve a big job. I will get behind him all the way but I think every Liverpool fan I know agrees that this appointment is a massive decision for the club so for them to take such a gamble on a big call for the club is very risky.

It is. Huge risk can mean huge rewards or massive failure.

As you've said lets get behind him and see what happens.

He stands much more chance of succeeding with 100% support from the fans <ok> yes he's a risk but in a way who isn't? Had we gone for a Capello type its a risk in terms of just how committed would they be? A young continental manager such as AVB is a risk due to having less knowledge of English footy, and a young Prem manager is a risk due to a lack of experience.

Will he be an instant success? Possibly but maybe less likely than an experienced head. Will he be given time? I hope so but won't hold my breath especially if we start the season poorly. Will he try to get/keep us playing good football? Undoubtedly <ok>is he worth giving the job? IMO yes 100%

I'm behind him but I'm wondering who we can attract with him at the helm, and will Pepe leave now?

Dont mean to sound like a complete idiot but why would Reina leave for? Is he not enitrely happy with the appointment of Rogers?

Any new manager is always going to be a risk. Some would have had us go for one of the Big Beasts - but that wouldn't have reduced the risk. Of those that may have been available perhaps only Guardiola and AVB really stood out - and they too would have been a risk.

I'm with Billy on this one. Rodgers has been given the job so let's get behind him and give him a chance.

If Pepe wants to go he can go. Brendan can build his own team. This is a great appointment.

This. <ok>

Although I think some are looking to far into it, Benitez often used Pepe as a sweeper goalkeeper which is similar to what Rogers used at Swansea. Just because he has spoken out for his desire for Rafa doesn't mean he will not like or give Rogers a chance.

I'm never right Captain you should know that by now <laugh>
