So I've lost my £29.71 wager on Stendel being our next gaffer?

Fuming here <steam>

As others have said it doesn't add up...the op was adamant that Parkinson took training but it seems very likely that journos would have picked up on that, and if that's not accurate no reason to believe any of it.
Clutching at straws maybe but Bookies lengthened their odds a bit this morning but not massively
Think if he was at training they would be all over this and a few would have suspended betting.

Like I say clutching at straws.

For those slating Parkinson - how many of his games have you seen? Are you that bothered about playing silky football as, from what I can see, I've oly watched uitter rubbish for most of my years on the earth! TYhe odd good season (3rd div in the 80s, Roy Keane, Peter Reid, Allardyce) and the rest has been utter bilge! - My first season was 1981/82 at Roker! (I was 6)

Football style doesn;t matter to me. Winning does. Chelsea won the league and were awful to watch under Mourinho!

I'm not expecting 'total football' mate.

I want us out of this division this season by all means necessary.

His win ratio averages out over 16 years at just over 30%
His best ever season was 15 years ago with Colchester with a win ratio of around 40%

Given the average points tally of the second place team in this league is 89 points, we need 70 points from 33 games see us up automatically and avoid the lottery of the play offs.

I make that a win average of over 50% and no defeats, or around 60% with a few losses and the rest draws.

Like I said I don't give a **** how we get out of this league this season, 'silky football' is way down the list, promotion is top.

Rather than attacking people for a made up reason 'football style' - why not convince me you think he's the man to do what's required to get us promoted?

At least that's logical, more so than believing every ITK rumour we've heard. That way madness lies.

Parkinson has the look of Wilkinson in his younger days.
HW was a canny manager in his earlier days. Very evangelical but it worked.
By the time we got him he was daft as a brush

Phillips also told an interesting attempt by Wilkinson to motivate his struggling players by telling them to grasp the nettle and trying to prove his point by doing it for real:

He comes in with a plastic carrier bag in his hand and straight away all the lads are looking at each other and thinking ‘what’s he doing now?’.

He starts walking up and down, doing his team talk and he starts going on about ‘who is going to stand up, who is going to take the reigns, who is going to grasp the nettle?’.

Which one of you is going to do that because I tell you what, I’ll grasp the nettle if none of you do it’.

So at that point he opens the carrier bag, puts his hand in the carrier bag and brings out a great big bunch of stinging nettles.

So he says ‘There you are, I’ve grasped the nettle, I’ve done it, I’ve shown that I’m a man’.

He goes round ‘who wants to take them?’ and all the lads are like ‘I’m not taking them’, so he puts them back in his bag and carries on his team talk.

While he is doing his team talk, you think I’m not listening any more, I just want to watch his hand and you could see him while he’s doing his team talk, he’s shaking his hand, he stung the hell out of his hand.

You have to give him credit for trying everything.

<laugh>

So you thought it sensible to post something unproven in the knowledge it would upset/dismay others and because you saw your mate' getting flack'?
No clue who he is. Just passing on what I've been told is same as what the op posted.

HITC spouting Pearson wouldnt want to drop down a division but clearly had a memory lapse about him managing in a 2 shack Belgian town for over a year.
Unbelievable guff that lot sick up

I can't believe that SAFC would say that one prospective manager needs to clear his head and another didn't want to manage at the current level....

Ah stats! Aren't they great

Point out where I said he was? I have never once said he's the man to "do what's required" - I'm saying I don't know having not seen ANYTHING of this football or games - but using "history shows a win percentage of" is utter rubbish - does that mean his win percentage will be the same with us? Allardyce had a win percentage of 30% with us I believe - a nlot would have him back in a heartbeat (not me mind) My "attack" is more based on the fact that Parkinson, who may or may not get the job, hasn't been announced and he's already in for an awful lot of stick from those not willing to give him a chance.

As I said, what if Stendel comes in, who seems to be the overwhelming fans favourite, and is awful? ships 3 or 4 every game and loses? Then what? The chairman does what the fans want, the manager the fans wanted doesn't work? Where does the blame lay at that point? The players? Who weren't to blame for the Jack Ross times?

If he took training I can't believe that the bookies haven't suspended betting. Some of the players would surely be piling it on through their mates

You'd really think so wouldn't you, except its illegal and people have recently been prosecuted.

Still, it's surely a big enough deal for the local media to be interested unless they're bound by news of other issues.

**** knows, I'm going to ignore the manager speculation until its announced.

Now Roker Report saying Parkinson doesn't have the job.

As they said the takeover was done and Ross wouldn't be sacked I've no idea what to think any more.

The Ladbrokes market hasn't flinched since yesterday. Parkinson is still 1/3. It's a guaranteed 33% profit if you invest with your money, if you're so sure.

<laugh> Absolutely - HITC are one of the worst online news outlets I have ever come across - I read a headline on NewNow and then realise it's HITC so don't click it!!

I stuck a lump on Pearson when I was told he'd been offered the job, never thinking he'd turn it down.

If he has its because Donald doesn't want to offer a long contract, backing in January and any real commitment.

This is becoming a soap opera and I'm hoping to wake up from a coma.
