We've had a bit of a roller-coaster ride over the past couple of days and I'm sure that will continue, but things aren't looking quite as bad as they first seemed.
We had lost Adam Pearson along with the likelihood of Nick Barmby, and the Allams' were also allegedly putting the club up for sale, and it also looked like we'd be losing our best players.
Since then the Allams' have clarified that they are not looking to sell the club and that our best players will not be leaving. Granted they've made promises in the past that have been broken but when it comes to the future of the club you would hope they'd stick to it.
So, at the end of all of this, the only major thing I can honestly say we've lost is trust in the Allams' - ie if we get a new manager we'll be half-expecting him to get sacked after every interview.
Pearson was supposed to be leaving regardless, so cutting it slightly short hopefully shouldn't make too much difference in the grand scheme of things, and I'm sure they'll find a replacement soon.
As for Barmby, yes the decision was disgusting, disgraceful, eye-gougingly painful to read.. etc, but we can't get hung up on it. If we won the league next season you know some people would end up praising the Allams' for their excellent decisions.
To my recollection player contracts don't expire until June 30th, so we've got a fair while to sort out a new manager (ie no teams will snap up free agents whilst we're managerless) and plenty of time for our players and fans to simply accept the situation as it is. Personally I'd have McCarthy although Davies surprisingly seems the more likely at this moment in time.
We'll can talk over the January budget, Barmby's interview and Pearson's sacking a thousand times - it won't change anything. Maybe it's time we just accept the situation as it is and move on. Barmby will be back one day, even if it's not in a managerial role - and who knows, maybe someone better can come in and take us straight back up to the promised land.
