Is Warnock a liar?

Did Mr Heaton write many of the lyrics to the Beautiful South's songs?
Or did someones 5 yr old dyslexic child? Frantically writing down anything that rhymed regardless of whether it made sense or not.
Lets face it, the people of Hull with their - at the time - massive inferiority complex, latched onto the Housemartins and the Beautiful South, took them to their hearts and put them on such a high pedestal you'd think Morrisey had wrote the lyrics and Harry Styles was the lead singer.
Now we have rubbed shoulders with the greats in the Premier League can we stop this false idol worship. I'm sure there are much more deserving "local" bands.

He wrote almost all the songs and some of the lyrics are very good.

Some of the other band members were local though
They were a really good band IMHO...I just never saw him as one of our own.

****ing pisses me off when people go on about him as being a beacon of Hullishness. Moving somewhere staying to live there for a bit doesn't make you 'one of their own'. I've lived in Leeds for 20 years but would never dream of claiming to be from there or, heaven forbid, a local.

He's not a patch on our John Prescott...fat **** btw.

OP questioned : 'Is Warnock a Liar?'

Who gives a ****, we've got one right on our doorstep, never mind in south ****ing Wales.

And they sold more records then the Beatles, or something. They cannot all have been bought in Syd Scarboroughs ?

I never thought it was about him, it was about the time, the place, the music and, of course, some very rare football success; some of the press made a meal of it, but what was there to complain about? Unless you're BCC.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

In a Big Sam stylie.

I absolutely love this adoration of anything remotely mod, as long as they wore the clothes. And anything remotely Hullish.
No matter how crap it is. The emperors new clothes.

Anyway(s) Is'nt Mr Heaton from the USA?
That would explain the trans atlantic drawl he adopts when singing.

Any English singer who tries to sing with an American accent is a ******.
Isnt English good enough for you? Mr Jagger, Stewart, John?

Where's Gary Clail when you need him.

disclaimer - this love of English singing accents does not endorse the likes of "the streets" and all the myriad of punk bands who thought you had to sing with a cockney accent.

When Americans want a baddie in a film they invariably use an actor with English accent.
Yet we respect and admire the American accent. Mr Hugh Lawrie?
If we don't stand up now in the very near future we will all be speaking like ******s.
Innit.
Anyways I'm off to sharpen my axe,

There was nothing to complain about
I saw them live several times and they were really good

Anyways I'm off to sharpen my axe,

Are you on crack?

Whether he is from a different city, or supports a different football team etc, Paul heaton has done more to raise the profile of this city than any of us who post on here, especially those who slag him off.

Nerve Struck? Although **** knows which one.

I dare you to tune into Absolute Rock Lamby, or will you implode? Will your clothes melt and your scooter refuse to start?
(nowt new there)

I wish someone could staple Lemmys face to you until you die screaming "Bathe me!!!" or "Somebody Iron my clothing"

This mod lark has gone to your head. Just like Jimmy.

Btw its not crack, try 2 pints of Babycham cut with TigerCola.
Stir in a tiny bit of devils advocate humour and you get an awful lot of whooshing moments. Its certainly funny as I see it.

If its proper Hull yeah then big it up.
But we're not that desperate to be accepted/noticed to adopt our deedahh cousins are we?
There should be intense hatred of everything Sheffield.

Unless you went to Bramall Lane with City late 70's bullied by the blade with the brolly and his mates and the police happy to watch laughing can you share this hatred. Add in when they tried getting on the family type coach to punch defenceless fans.
Most of them had the same inbred am I/aren't I wearing my dentures jawline. Many, many ill felt dealings with them since and before then.

Forget all of this.
Paul Heatons biggest crime to humanity is to omit the whooooo whaow whaow from their cover of Nilssens classic hit.
Almost as bad as (can I say his name on here without causing trauma/offence?) PUFF Daddys omission of "Oh cant you see?" from their rip off- sorry - cover of Every breath you take.
That one hit me hard, almost took my breath away....

But we can forgive Puff cos with a name like that he must be a current Hull City supporter.

In the good old days his head would have been have been on the end of a spike.

Sir John Howard and his son will not be spinning Beautiful South records but instead will be turning in their graves.
Let us not forget.
