My point is rather a question of why have the board wiated to get the extension sorted and tie him down for a few more years. The board want stability for the club, this has to extend to managerial contracts. Happy coach, happy footballers. I dont think its a coincidence that form has dipped at the same time people don't know where they stand with the company that employs them.

And unfortunately that's the case not only with Jol but key players.

Agree with you there. I don't think Jol has stopped trying but the board's position hasn't really helped matters. I think they said they intended on taking up the option for an extra year back in November? But like you say, nothing's happened. Very strange.

Well, we know Hangeland has had an offer - I would think it's more than just an extra year, as he is our captain, for better or for worse (if it is just another year I can see why he'd be miffed) - so the onus is on him to sign. Players like Baird and Duff, I think, activate another year when they play a certain amount of games. So it's quite different situations for all.
