Is it going to take another tragedy for the sick chants to finally end?

I had my stream on mute last night so cos of foreign commentary so didn't hear anything, but the beeb is saying it's only you being charged with illicit chants?

How loud was it (both sides)?

Why would UEFA be biased against Liverpool?

Don't pre-empt the outcome by crying about bias mate.

I just hope the FA get involved to ensure that this stuff gets consigned to history where it belongs.

I also hope we don't follow the same lead when we visit Anfield in a few weeks.

Why would David Gill be [HASHTAG]#neutral[/HASHTAG] ?

I was embarrassed for football listening to that **** last night.

For me it ruined what should have been a great footballing occasion.

I had hoped that the Liverpool fans would rise above it, as I understand was the case at Anfield, but they were obviously goaded into a response last night.

It needs stamping out now, we've been talking about this issue for way too long, time for some draconian action that sends out the signal that it's wholly unacceptable behaviour at the match.

Rivalry, banter, even near the knuckle jibes, it's all part of football - but not chants about death. Enough is enough.

Easier to ignore a few thousand compared to 70,000+ I guess. Disappointed that we reacted to say the least.

Equally annoyed though. Why was the first leg ignored?

Not sure what the FA can do as it stands really. I think the clubs need to come together and agree to ban anyone for life who's seen singing a chant about a tragedy. It's easy enough to identify people nowadays espescially if it's away support.

Seems a bit odd that only Liverpool have been charged in relation to chants though.

late kick off <laugh>

**** off :emoticon-0172-mooni:emoticon-0173-middl you changed the time to suit utd you ****ing cocks!!

Yes only Liverpool charged

Aside from most of the first leg that Man Utd chanted without reply from Liverpool, yesterday thousands chanted from the 11th minute onwards

Perhaps a few dozen Liverpool fans chanted back in the final minutes of the game while LFC fans who had gone in the home end were being assaulted by Man Utd fans

some LFC fans were in "home end" just above the away end and unfurled a LFC banner causing toruble and stewards and poilce had to move in so if thats the violence in the ground thats all that will be interesting UEFA. So LFC will get the blame there too.

BTW a "home" end that is above an away end is ridiculous and wide open to serious abuse..

Our lot let off flares too so that will mean a big fine.

What i'm reading is that

Uefa disciplinary charges
Manchester United
Stairways blocked
Crowd disturbances
Throwing of objects

Liverpool
Illicit chants
Setting off of fireworks
Throwing of objects
Crowd disturbances
Late kick-off

So clearly we are in far more trouble than the mancs despite the onus being on them to search crowds and keep the peace. they have not got proper separation of the crowds. clealry the eufa delegate found his route to the prawn sandwiches blocked for some reason...

but we apparently caused a late kick off which is far far more serious than any banners and chanting of murderers and victims.

we apparently caused tv stations some hassle... far shame LFC.

The ref was very generous to Man Utd. Fellaini's yellow should have been a red, and Blind was talked to for his continuous fouling whereas Coutinho was insta-booked for his first offence

coutinho knew he was stopping a crucial cross after we exposed our left side totally.

euro refs will book any deliberate pro foul like this.

The ref could not make out their incoherent ****e but when all the mancs went home he could clearly hear one or two guys.

lesson: don't dare humilate the mancs. the authorities are disgusted we dared score and stop their triumphant run.

Every time we countered we were professionally fouled to prevent a goal that would kill the tie

Refs always consider it a far lesser offence to foul the team that's already "winning" though, but in reality any goal by us was far more meaningful than a Man Utd one

ref could clearly see milner out of position and knew coutinho knew what he was at.

the fact is we can all ignore it but sahko was let away with a blatent (and well executed) pro foul to stop utd breaking. he know what he was doing too so we cna't be claiming bias cos the ref booked coutinho who did his in a more dangerous area when he also booked blind when he could sturridge in a similar sort of position.

the ref merely has his interpretation of where yellows were merited most

The fact he even booked felliani was amazing to me. usually they get down and suck him off rather than card him.

I assume by late kickoff they mean later than the re-arranged time? How is that Liverpools fault? (I'm defending or putting an argument forward for this, just wondering what happened)

Did you kick off 1st half or 2nd? Could be you were late out onto the pitch etc.

You know, the kind of charge that gets a bigger fine from UEFA than racism <ok>

Because they unfurled a Liverpool banner - which was ****ing stupid, come on.

You also had a banner in the away section that said "Hang the Roma 4"

Both sets of fans haven't covered themselves in glory here, and it's time it ended once and for all.

I hope the positive that ends up coming out of this is that the whole of the English game unites to stamp this out, as they didn't with racist chanting.

I'm note sure if it was half time or at start

as far as i could tell both teams were in tunnel waiting before hand and i didn't see anything that sopped them getting on with it but i did note they came out quite late to get going at 8:05.

i was that nervous i didn't note the time the game started however.

Does it relate to team being late out of dressing room or for flares going off stopping kick off?

I was reading it that there was a pre-match issue with fans that delayed the kickoff. Hadn't thought about it being the playing staff etc

Man Utd fans chant the majority of both games without charge, Liverpool fans chant in the final minutes and are charged.

Even 1 minute is enough to be punished, but UEFA have made it clear that Man Utd won't be.

That doesn't mean I don't want Liverpool fans punished, I'm glad we're being held to a higher standard.

Let's just not pretend the fans are behaving equally or are being punished proportionally.

There are umpteen cameras at each and every game these days. They spend enough time showing reaction shots of Dalglish, Fergie, Rooney etc, so why can't they actually use them to try and assist in stamping out a sickness within the game?
Someone pitch-side can inform the OB unit when it's happening, and they can zoom in on an area to show the offenders. The director doesn't have to let it go out live if they're squeamish about repercussions, but the footage can be handed over to the authorities to identify and punish people.
They don't have to get everyone, just a few every time it happens and it will stop soon enough.
Sky, BT, the Beeb make countless ****ing millions out of this game, surely they can help to clean it up?
