Should have had 2 penalties now, it's the CM pair that is failing, but Trapp will have nothing else. Get the McCarthy lad from Wigan instead of one of Whelan/Andrews <ok>

Given, that Given was returning from injury and possibly lacking match conditioning, should they have perhaps started Westwood who looked pretty good in recent games?

Maybe Kilburn. But Trap is so Conservative, he'd need to be half dead to be dropped.

But to blame him for the second goal like Flyer did just shows a lack of any kind of knowledge.

James McClean would've been my first name on the team sheet. Prefer Long to Doyle as well, wouldn't have mattered with that defending though.

I didnt see the game had to watch it on the wireless whilst driving home...... did we really expect anything else. we play to conservative we only try score when we need to, we have a manager that wont change his style of playing which if your italy, spain, brazil or qpr its fine because they have the players to score and create chances.
In our group we beat no one ranked above us and strugled against the lesser teams. under trapatone we played soccer once v spain bar that we have nevere treid to alter the style of play or the players used when we had friendlies.
To bring on a striker to play left wing when you have one of the most promising midfielders in england on the bench is a very strange choice. and mclean must be wondering what he has to do to get a game.
on the plus side we have 2 easy games left so we should end up wit 6 points.....
i can see us beating italy but that will be through all out defensive play.
as for spain if we play like paris we could win but there is nothing to show that trap will change his gameplan any time soon.

Don't agree with many of the comments above about Croatia. We must have been watching a different match. There first goal was a lucky header, the second was a yard off-side and while the third was a good header it needed a big slice of fortune to go in off Given. Other than this, Croatia flattered to deceive. They played many passes across our back line without actually penetrating. Other than the goals they created very very little for all the posession they had. We had more half chances in the last 10 minutes than they had in the previous 80. We are probably the worst of the 16 teams there, but mark my words this Croatia team are little better than average.
The ref was shocking, out of his depth. How three officials did not see that off-side and clear penalty just shows AGAIN how backward FIFA are in relation to bringing the game we love into the 21st century. Last night was the first time EVER, that i saw an Irish team bullied off the pitch. Some of that Croatia fouling was unbelievably cynical and yet the ref again let most of it go unpunished.
The better team won, no doubt about that, but the ref was shocking and that Croatia team have very little to offer.

Best of luck to England tonight, hate the frogs. The sight of Terry on the pitch will turn my stomach.
