I found a template PL player's contract. One of the Club's obligations is to:
"Release the Player as required for the purposes of fulfilling the obligations in respect of representative matches to his national association pursuant to the statutes and regulations of FIFA."
So how the Club can fine them is beyond me.

4 PL players <ok>, they forgot to mention on the entry forms that they had been in the UK within 14 days of entry.
UK is a red country to Brazil so should have had 14 day isolation.

That's why most PL teams stopped their Brazil players going because it was pointless.

Not being funny but how the **** did they get into the ****ing country then?

FFS...they played in the English Premier league...bit of a ****ing clue!

Why did the Argentine team take them ffs?

Sorry, but:

1. Footballers should be allowed to go on international duty...if clubs don't like it then don't sign over seas players.

2. Players are notoriously stupid. Look at Ian "playing in Italy was like bring in a foreign country" Rush!
They have to be told what to eat, when to sleep and what to say. They spend all week practicing tactics for a game then come match day need their ****ing manager to scream instructions at them cos they've forgotten what to do.
Was it really beyond the Argentinian FA to tell the Brazilian FA that they'd been in England just 8 days ago?

Genuinely do not blame the players for this cluster ****.

Argentina are adamant that they had an exemption. This is quite common and I think teams from red list countries can visit England.

1... They never declared they had been in the UK in the last 14 days.

2... how many Brazilian customs operators do you think watch the PL every week <laugh>

1. The Argentinian FA should have ensured it was all correctly filled in. Clubs and FA'S do that all the time ... mainly cos dumbass players can't be trusted.

2. Like they went through regular customs ffs <laugh>
Can you imagine Messi queueing up in a customs line after queueing up at the carousel for his suitcases <laugh>

FIFA rules apparently say that the home FA is responsible for advising the away FA on regulations for entering the country. This seems to have gone badly wrong. Brazil players from the UK would have been allowed to play apparently.

I would be surprised if they filled out their own paperwork. Yes, players are stupid but I find it hard to believe that even the players would deliberately go against the travel restrictions knowingly and try and 'sneak' into Brazil. They know how high profile they are. Plus Brazil did/should have known they were there, and would would/should have a good idea where they came from to get there. I doubt that entry to the country is is done by the average Brazilian customs official at the airport looking at the paperwork of one at a time as they file past him/her. It is surely the case that a representative from teh team takes all their paperwork together to a separate office somewhere? So for various reasons I'm currently leaning more toward a Brazilian (oops) cock up, because I find it hard to believe that Argentina would have deliberately tried to play players they knew were ineligible (unless they genuinely thought they had an exemption, whether they really did or not).
