Trevor Porteous was born in Hull, lived on NHE and is an Endike old boy, like me. Believe either he or his family has a coach business in another life. Meaning they owned a bus.
What age we talking about mate? I'm ex Endike too.
I can't recall a trev porteous been mentioned as an ex pro.
I was at Endike ( seniors) from 65 to 69 ish. Trev Porteous, and this is totally from memory was either late 50's or early 60's. He certainly played for Stockport County, at a guess before City's heyday season of 65/66. I wasn't aware he was in the Stockport hall of fame.
Just looked it up. He also played 61 games for City from 51-56, then 398 games for Stockport, even managing them for two years years between 63 to 65. Born in 1933, died in 1999. So he will have been an Endike lad just after the war ?

Was he In the same team as Gerry Ingram?
No see my above post. I used to watch Gerry on a Sunday morning playing on Princes Elizabeth for Victoria ? Believe he played on a Saturday for Hull Brunswick ? Remember going to see him at Brunswick once when they were a game or two away from qualifying for the FA Cup 1st round. They didn't qualify.
Gerry was a stand out player in his day, everyone knew he's make the grade, which he did at PNE and Blackpool. He played at a time when City had a formidable forward line of their own and I don't think City were scouting for any more forwards. I say that because we also missed out on Kevin Keegan playing at Scunthorpe around the same time.
Gerry's brother ran Lord Nelson for along time.
At a guess Gerry played on local park pitches in Hull around 1966/67 ish ?
Ah right he's a lot older. Just googled and Trevor porteous died at 54 in 1997.
Went over to stay with a mate in LA in the 90's and met Gerry, had a lot of beer with him.
Knew norm Ingram too. Caretaker at Schultz. I used to play for Schultz youth club.
That's him. Norman Ingram.I went to Schultz from Endike and hated it. I'd played football at every level for Endike under Freddy Cowell and Duncan and Raggy Tidyman but I couldn't get near the team at Schultz. Went for a trial/training and Fred Ramsden took a dislike to me for some reason, I was told by other lads it was because I didn't have blonde hair! I went a couple of times but you soon get the message that your face doesn't fit and I stopped trying.
Some good players at Schultz YC as there were on OPE at that time. One of my brothers played for a team out of Henry Cooper, Dave Kynman was in the same team, and Forest under Cloughie invited the full team down to the City Ground to play their youth team and the OPE lads hammered them. I think Forest took a Hull lad, Steve Rouse ?
Rousey was at city for awhile I think. Great player but too headstrong I think to listen to coaches.

Ye some good lads off ope and north hull. I worked with a lad years later who was adamant Dave .Towers was a far far better player than Pete skip and shoulda made it. Oberg another one.
It was reckoned that a scout reportedly said Keegan was too small. Then it was said he hadn't bothered going and questions were asked after Liverpool signed him.
Ian Rowe another one and the fabulous Freddy Cooper. I first spotted Fred as a lad during a kick about on NHE. I had a team then, but not one in a league, we used to turn up and play on a field opposite Prince Elizabeth where Tesco is today and invite other teams to play us. Fred was my centre forward when he was about 15. Billy Williams ? Gordon Watkins ? Phil Randle ? Kev Drury ( Drewery) ? Glen Madden ? All good NHE lads who could have made the grade but were overlooked. Loved Pete Skipp when he was at City, he was the first pro football I knew who knew my name in the street. Yep know nearly all of them.
Tragic about Freddie Cooper. Someone told me he was still running marathons etc right up until the cancer took him. Only In his early 50's I think too.
Gordy Watkins is a great friend of mine. Love him to bits. Sadly he's not in the best of health. He's in a nursing home after having a stroke a few years ago. Our kid sees him every week or takes him out to see a load of the old lads.
I used to play for Glenn's dad Joe. Both brilliant blokes.

I can only remember my Dad being much more annoyed that I was ridiculously late in, and therefore knackered for the game than he was about the reason for my lateness!
I know Cloughie signed Stuart Gray who was playing for Withernsea YC in 1978.
Another one I believe we missed out on was Kevin Hector who had a trial game for the juniors in around 1961-62 ish and was told he was too small, he signed for Bradford PA and went onto greater things with Derby.
There are more professional clubs in England than practically every other country in the world.
So the number of professional clubs is proportionate to the chance of supporters not wanting to stay home and watch their team on TV instead of in person? Bit of a weird argument.
