Joseph's been chucked under the bus, shocking imo. From doing ok in L1, showing promise, he's been dumped into a struggling Championship side with what looks like no guidance, support or mentoring. We should have done with him what Brentford did with KLP.
We shouldn’t have signed him then if that’s what he needed
We needed someone proven at this level

Watch the highlights of this game (if you can bear to).

Apart from Gelhardt having a shot near the six yard box after an error by their defender (which he should have done better with), all our 'chances' were speculative shots from way out which didn't trouble the keeper.

We put in a couple of 'dangerous' crosses from near the by-line; however the fact that there was no one running into the box rendered them pointless.

It's soul destroying how inept we are infront of goal. Hughes' brilliant header, Pedro's world-class turn and poke home, dodgy penalties and deflected own goals is about the sum total of our end products recently.

Depressing.

Last 4 home games offered next to nothing, debatable penalty against Preston got us going , massive deflection against Coventry ; Luton as bad as yesterday . Massively depressing how little we have offered in such big games

There was a moment in the second half

We were deep in derbys half

And then hughes and coyle passed the ball to each other about 4 times
Becasue there was no movement
No options

Then the crowd groaned and coyle whipped it in and derby cleared it

Theres just something fundamentally wrong with the team in the final third
Players or coaching
Or both

Who was actually marking their goal scorer, initially I thought jones but he’s in front of him so has no idea what’s going on behind him

Nat Phillips pushed Coyle forwards with both hands and then moved behind Jones who lost him completely to allow the free header.

The problem for Saturday as I see it is that Selles will not be prepared to go gung ho against Portsmouth because he’ll be aware that they have won several games at home this season by 3-4 goals and he won’t want to risk losing in case it turns out that a draw would have been enough.

So if I'm not mistaken despite us being in the bottom 3 it's still in our hands, because Derby and Stoke play each other and both can't win.

We win we stay up. We lose we're down. We draw we are depending on other results and goal difference.

What a **** show of a season. Especially recruitment.

Preston will struggle for points against Bristol unless they beat Leeds today. They are in free fall.

Lack of movement up top or with midfielders looking to break their back line was almost non existent, and on the few occasions someone showed willing the pass forward didn't happen.

Selles football at face value is the same as Roseys, albeit Rosey had better players at his disposal.

Kyle Joseph scored 9 goals for Blackpool in 54 games

No idea who looked at him and thought he'd score goals for us in the Championship

For 2.5m
His league one record is not even good nevermind champ level

I really really dont understand his signing for the fee

Yeah I remember that one. There were opportunities to sling it in, but we were trying to probe for something better. We were in control and had them penned in and there was no rush to just chuck a hopeful ball in to get cleared. It made sense to continue probing. But then when the crowd started groaning Coyle soon crossed it from a crap position whilst barely in control of it, overhit it and the attack was over. ****e.

We're incredibly uncertain. You can see it on lots of occasions. When we break into space and then instead of making a decisive pass or shot we overthink and play our way out of the position we got into. The fear of messing up the chance leads to us messing up the chance gradually.

Slinging balls in is fine if that's your tactic and you build around it, put men in there and work on attacking it and getting the second balls. We are not that sort of team and never really have been, but we end up crossing out of an awkward sense of inclination because we're not sure what else to do, and then the attack is over.
