On my speed awareness course, the answer to that question was that it must have a central reservation/barrier. Something physical to create "dual" zones rather than just a lane marking.
If they changed the speed limits they'd have to change all the signs overnight, and that wouldn't be a problem for us would it
For many years I'd cracked on at 70mph up and down Arras Hill, sometimes passing Police cars. I had a wake up call when someone pointed out my error. At least I somehow escaped getting a ticket, which is surprising, as I generally push the "10% +2mph guideline" too.
I have to admit I don't spend a lot of time up that particular area(Sauchiehall St)but my wife works up that way and sees it daily... I was within a hairs breadth of being hit on Friday,yet my wife's reaction indicated that I should have been more aware!!! It's a pedestrian precinct down the bottom end,the cycle lane stops at the previous crossing!! Anyway,I was delighted when she said she was going into a few shops as it gave me the opportunity to go for a couple of Aspall ciders without Tufty Fluffytail nipping my lug...
It'd be really easy and satisfying to give one of these rogue cyclists a little nudge as they're flying past, trouble is they'd then clatter into loads of pedestrians and cause even more carnage

12 or 13 yr old in school uniform on e scooter crosses Willerby bypass near Kirkella and goes up Riplingham Rd towards Raywell - on the road it’s a very busy road with bends and poor visibility in parts - must have been late home for the evening Fortnite session !!
Unless you're on one of these roads on my way home from work, where a lot of them think it's 42MPH!!!
Whenever I come across someone cycling on the pavement I greet them with "GET OFF THE ****ING PAVEMENT YOU" (choice of various words). Doesn't go down particularly well but I don't give a ****. I probably say it in my sleep it happens that often.
It's a great hobby of mine on a dog walk but there is a fit blonde who keeps cycling towards me down main road bilton and she smiles at me in a real flirty way. I am ashamed to admit for her I actually step aside and allow her to pass. Anyone else gets it both barrels including little kids. Old enough to cycle you're old enough to be on the road!
Where I live there are lots of pavements which are designated shared between pedestrians and cyclists, basically they paint a white line down the middle. Seems to work fairly well but it does need people to be respectful to one another. I've been called out by pedestrians, and I've had a go at cyclists but in the main it's ok.
Illegal on pedestrian areas ? They are illegal on roads Legal ebikes are limited to 15.5 mph and no throttle
Just been reading in HDM about the threat to Vivergo. I don't know all the ins and outs but this bit stood out in the article. a Government spokesperson said: "We signed a deal with the US in the national interest to secure thousands of jobs across key sectors. We are now working closely with the industry to understand the impacts of the UK-US trade deal on the UK’s two bioethanol companies and are open to discussion over potential options for support. I'd have thought 'understanding the impacts' might have been done before signing the deal with US. No?
