Sorry, I was under the impression that nobody forfeited their wages they just 'deferred' them or, like Kilbane, spread them out over 2 years. I don't dispute anyone's motives but consider it a smart move on Kilbane's behalf as he's with the Club for another year.
That's only a good move if he benefits financially.
Had he not done it he could have more money in the bank until this time next year than he now does, and would be free to play for any club who wanted him at whatever price they were prepared to pay/could afford to pay him. He could also as one of the most experianced internationals and top flight players in the history of the British Isles have gone and become a fairly well paid pundit.
Now he has less money in the bank, and if the Allams stick to their "not paying players to play for other clubs" comment will only be able to play for clubs who can afford to pay him 13k/wk.
Where is the advantage in not playing for us but being stuck living round here and needing someone to come in for him on loan with an offer of 13k/wk, over being a free agent who can go anywhere and play for anyone or get a job in the media?
