That's only a good move if he benefits financially.

Had he not done it he could have more money in the bank until this time next year than he now does, and would be free to play for any club who wanted him at whatever price they were prepared to pay/could afford to pay him. He could also as one of the most experianced internationals and top flight players in the history of the British Isles have gone and become a fairly well paid pundit.

Now he has less money in the bank, and if the Allams stick to their "not paying players to play for other clubs" comment will only be able to play for clubs who can afford to pay him 13k/wk.

Where is the advantage in not playing for us but being stuck living round here and needing someone to come in for him on loan with an offer of 13k/wk, over being a free agent who can go anywhere and play for anyone or get a job in the media?
 
You have moot points and I bow to your superior knowledge but I cannot see anyone coming in for Kevin at 13 grand per week. Sorry, just cannot see it. He has extended his career with us by a year and will be 'available' but imo is way off this level at this stage in his career. I have watched some of his games this season and he is nowhere near the player he was. He will be 35 and a half at the end of next season and I doubt (although I hope I am wrong for Kevin's sake) that he will be sought after by anyone. His future lies in the media and in the meantime he is receiving (13 grand?) a substantial amount of money into his bank account each week. How many of our current players are getting near that amount? I'd say he was pretty smart to do the deal he did and good luck to him.

Nobody will, that's exactly the point.

He could have had all that money this year and would now be free to sign for any club at any wage they were willing to pay and whatever you think, there will definitely be clubs willing to pay him a wage. His move wasn't 'smart' at all, as he's now in the awkward position of not having taken his money, not figuring in our plans and still being on too much money for another club to pay his full wages. He would be so much better off if he'd just taken his wage in full like everyone else.

As for him being 35 and a half, he's 35, you stop adding the half once you get past 8 years old(and 3 months isn't half a year either).

I stated that he will be 35 and a half at the end of next season - well actually 35 years and 5 months. There is no way we will be offering him an extension (if he is still with us) and it will be a brave Club to offer him one at that age. Just my opinion but from what I have seen this season he has definitely no pace whatsoever, no stamina, no timing and no distibution skills but good luck to the bloke as he is still on our books on 13 grand per week.
 
Have to commend KK for doing what he did for the Club, but thought his passing in the playoff games that I saw of him was poor.

To some extent it gets harder the more you drop down the divisions as you get older - probably needs to take a leaf out of Scholes's book and call it a day.
