The thing that makes me laugh the most is McNally coming out and saying that the board had scoured the whole of Europe for a quality manager/coach and they appointed Adams as a result! He must take you lot for complete Mugs but then again...

It's been mentioned 'in-house' many many times, Warky, so you might just as well put your **** stirring spoon away - at least, until after the international break.

On the other hand, the irony of an Ipswich fan telling us our chairman is taking us for mugs...

there's been a lot of spin about this 'scouring europe' soundbite.

though it obviously appears daft to say publicly you ‘scoured europe’ and then go and appoint a complete novice, i don’t doubt for one minute that the board DID in fact look abroad for an appropriate manager. the thing that has been spun about it is that they were scouring europe whilst hughton was in charge, not during the summer, which meant relegation then became a factor as well as finance. we know they made enquiries about guidolin from udinese (now available by the way) as the man himself said in his press conference he’d been contacted by the club. for whatever reason the board decided appointing from abroad wasn't for them at this particular time, maybe they just weren't brave enough, i don't know. but let's not believe the obtuse version that is being bandied about. it is apparent they did search - they chose adams instead.

Better than scouring England and ending up with a flea bitten donkey.

    Hoof is quite appropriate.

Poor because your on the end of it.

I wouldn't touch the silver mule with a stick safe enough to touch the great unwashed.

He's awful and to be honest you should be ashamed to have him moulding your club in his image.

    Ugly.

Thing is, I undestand that how Ipswich play isn't really a priority. If we had been stuck in the Championship for as long as you lot have then I'd be ready to accept any kind of football, or anti-football to get promoted.

I just think we are perfectly capable of playing good football and getting promoted. We shouldn't be in a position where one comes at the cost of the other.

He won't get them promoted because he has rubbish players. That type of football is not going to fool many for long, just as we got found out with the wingers. Its too simplistic.

You need variety in your play.

    True that.

I remember a few years ago Coventry made a really good start under Boothroyd and were in the play off places playing some of the worst football I've ever seen. They were soon found out and if be incredibly surprised if the same didn't happen to Ipswich.

If it makes you feel any better, consider this: we 'scoured Europe' for a new manager and found someone with experience of saving clubs from relegation and winning Bundesliga titles.

Felix Magath was the worst thing to happen to us in two decades and led us to the bottom of the Championship. Just a little perspective on that scouring line for you.

Can we not all just write a poem about our current slump ?. Trying to think of something to rhyme with spectacular failure.:emoticon-0105-wink:

What teams in the world do you think actually play good football?

Football is about winning at this level. If you win playing long balls then so be it. I would say playing in that style will only get you so far, but that may well be enough to get out of this league. Styles must develop as the team progresses of course and styles tend to need more refinement the higher up the football league you go.

Unless of course football is not about winning and is more about having fun?
