My wife died from alzheimers 2018, no one or nothing can prepare you for what is to come. To watch the person you have loved for 35 year disappear month by month week by week day by day hour by hour is the worst thing that will happen in your life. To have them say to you " i want to die, will you help me " is heartbreaking. for them to be unable to do something one day that they could do the previous day is gut wrenching. After more than 4 year it still hurts more than anything that has happened in my life.

I can't even imagine what you went through, I hope the passing of time has somehow dulled your pain

That’s dreadful mate.
Lost my Mam back in 2017 to a combination of dementia and cancer when she was in her 70’s. She had good and bad days in the last few months but to lose your wife to that disease would have been very tough to handle for you both.
Hope that you are able to find some peace and enjoy the memories of the good times.
