Frankly, I am wishing them all the best for the tie tonight and, if they get through, the Final.

I don't go in for all this hatred ****. I'm a football fan and a sports lover. I am not five years old.

****ing hell Albert, don't you know anything about footy? This concerns you directly. If we get to the final it will essentially open up an extra place for Europe in the league. This means more chance of you lot getting into Europe. Enjoy your run though. Idiot <doh> :p

I don't have any level of 'hatred' either. But I certainly wouldn't be able to stand the gloating if they won the thing. <laugh>

Can only speak for myself, but its not hatred of the mackems motivating me, its hatred of the (rightful) mullering we'd all get from their banter for God knows how long - just as they would from us in their shoes.

As much as I am that five year old ClearyDeludedGloryHunter is ClearlyAlluding to, I don't care. Sunderland have a small club mentality, desperate to make themselves seem better than their nearest rivals, whereas we don't tend to give two flying f***s about them until the derby comes around. They're the Scotland of the North East.

Maybe if they won something they would stop yapping about us, or trying to mount the nearest relation, for ten seconds (cue the inevitable, "who's this thread about?" riposte. Well think of it like this, you don't really want to talk about putting down that detesticled and infirm retch that reminds you of a dog you once cared about, but s*** like that's necessary sometimes)...

I'll always back any North East club to do well when it does not directly affect Newcastle or Blyth so I hope Sunderland make it through to the final. I am confident Man City will absolutely stuff them there so there's no worry of them nicking a Europa spot from the league.

    Howay the scum! <ok>

The more Toon fans I see posting this, the more I fear it may come back and bite. The final is a one-off match and anything can happen, as has been proven before.

For the sheer sake of the yewrope and Milan gags (and to avoid the inevitable bleating that would rightly follow any potential cup final success) I'd much prefer them to go out tonight. <ok>

That's a good point, though I think Man City are really fired up for the quadruple this season there's always a risk the Mackems could fluke a result and forever rub it in our faces. I can't bring myself to root Man Utd so I'm going to be neutral on this one.

If they were to get to the final they'd have earned it, but the biggest hurdle of all would still await them.

I want what's best for us and keeps our season going alive and kicking longer.

I can't see past an all Manchester final.

If Man U were to finish no worse than 5th, win or lose it guarantees 6th place getting the Europa spot.
Man U finishing 6th and winning LC isn't so good as we would have to finish 5th, unless two of the top 5 are in the FA Cup Final, in which case 7th place would then get the Europa spot.
Man U finishing 7th and winning LC would mean we have to finish 5th, or also 6th would do if two of the top 5 are in the FA Cup Final.
Of course this means FA unless we can get higher than 8th.

Does this make any sense at all, as my head is spinning thinking about it.

As I've convinced myself in any case, I want Man U to win tonight <ok> as its best for us, not because of the tribal instinct I would normally have.

Man City are determined to win this season and Pelican has set out his intent with last nights game, he didn't have to play any where near his 1st choice players but he let his best strikers play and it showed, given that his 1st choice squad are fit come the final I can't see anything but a Man City win, yes competitions throw up the odd ball results but not this time I think, Man City seem to have got their away form sorted out as well now.
