The fact I agree with all of these contradicting statements shows how much of a head **** it is them doing so well in the League Cup.

As it would in any other walk of life, part of me is pleased to see the usually forgotten North-East putting one over the usual favourites of London or Manchester. It's also great to see some genuine football fans get to have a day out at Wembley instead of more hangers on and glory hunters. But why does it have to be those proper football fans?? They'll never shut up about it - and why should they?

Man City will rightly be favourites, but Sunderland have every chance in a one off game and, as I said earlier in the thread, I'll be ****ting myself beforehand in case they go and win the ****er. Winning silverware is what its all about after all. Bastards!!! <doh>

(oh, and I said genuine football fans fredor, not pretend ones who live on somebody else's board)

First of all, a great result to the neighbours and well done them for getting through. The extra time must have been a little squeaky but the end result would have been nothing short of fantastic for them. Anyway, it's good not to have a Manchester based final especially now that the BBC is based at Salford and Match of the Day seems to be a bastard lovechild of MUTV these days.

I do hope that news of this event does trickle through to the board; if the neighbours have got to the final of one cup then how about giving it a proper go here and not aim to bow out to Stevange and Brighton every year?

If football in the North East is going to win more credit in the eyes of the nation then it needs Newcastle to stop playing silly buggers in the boardroom, consolodate the league position and aim for silverware. Sunderland need to stay up, win at Wembley and not battle relegation each season and Middlesbrough ought to stop the rot before it becomes terminal.

This is where the NUFC should have a long good look at themselves and, again, well done Sunderland for last night's result.
