If he gets a ban (which he cerrtainly shouldn't) we just have to make sure we draw with Arsenal at the weekend - then he'll be back for the mags game...
Can I just say - this is media at it's very best - nowehere in the article or even that paragraph does this need to be there so why is it?? It's a paragraph about Martin o'Neill talkoing about Thierry Henry - where does the "stamp" on Arteta come into it??
The media try to brainwash people all the time - I was travelling to the match on Saturday listening to the Man U Liverpool game and after about 55mins the commentator said "Its 2 - 0 to Manchester United in a week that saw Fabio Cappello resign from the England Managers Job" What on earth has that to do with the game - Our media is sh**e
In the eyes of the FA and the rules they've recently applied, I expect a 3 game ban. Personally I don't think these kind of incidents deserve it but the FA will likely rule that it was dangerous play given both feet left the floor, studs were showing, and he did land on his leg. For me its inconclusive but I'd imagine he is simply trying to jump over the player, and has landed accidentally on him. I just don't think the FA will see it like that after recent incidents, benefit of the doubt has gone out of the window.
There is nothing there lol. If he gets in trouble for that then the FA would prove themselves beyond any doubt whatsoever to be incompetent and bias to big teams.
Haha. Some red and white spectacles here. Both feet were off the floor, his studs were showing and he did land on Artetas leg. Struggling to see the absolute bollocks. Also plenty cases recently where the FA has taken action despite the ref appearing to see it at the time, and plenty of cases where many felt there was reasonable doubt in terms of intention. I think you lads might get a nasty surprise just how petty the FA are.

At first I actually wasn't sure if it was a stamp, but now I've watched it again a few times, I think it is. Few factors 1). Intent. There were seconds left for Sunderland to avoid a defeat, and then Arteta went over very softly due to a touch from Sessegnon to waste a few more seconds of time. There is a big, big reason for Sessegnon to be really pissed off at Arteta at that point, so we have the intent. 2). Once Arteta has fallen, Sessegnon is standing still for at least half a second. He then proceeds to build up momentum to step over Arteta and stamp down on his leg in the process. It wasn't like Sessegnon was already moving with a lot of momentum. He was stood still about 2 feet away, so why hop up and bring your leg down with so much force? 3). Look at the angle. The other player is what you would call an attempt to avoid stamping on him, and he was in full movement. Sessegnon was stood still, went into the jump, and then brought his leg down at an acute angle despite their being 2 to 3 feet of space between Arteta and the ball at that point. 4). Acceleration. Watch when Sessegnon's leg comes down. He actually speeds up his leg just before the moment of contact, which is exactly what you would do in a stamp. Sorry, but to me that was a stamp. All the signs are there. In a moment of blind frustration due to what was pretty much a dive from Arteta in those dying seconds, Sessegnon stamped his foot down on Arteta's leg whilst retrieving the ball. It should be a 3 game ban.
To be honest, when I heard Warm Pouch say that Sessegnon will almost certainly be banned, and then watched the video, I thought "is that it?". However, after watching it a good 10 times over I have to say that it looks far more like an intentional stamp. I may have been more unsure if it was just out of the blue, but the fact is that Sessegnon had a real reason to have intent due to Arteta's dive, and it's these moments of blind frustration which cause players to lash out like that and do stupid things.
