The first letters of the fifteen verses of the Dutch National Anthem spell Willem Van Nassov (William of Orange), the subject of the anthem. And that, my friends, is a fact.
The other interesting bit of trivia about the Dutch National Anthem is that it pledges support to the King of SPAIN..?!?
Not sure why they'd pledge support, considering they rebelled against Spanish rule of southern Holland and started the 80 years war between the two countries, resulting in independence for the Dutch nation. Unless the national anthem was produced and maintained since the time that the southern Netherlands were under control of the Spanish.
Nicely put Beddytare; players need time to settle in. [I also recall a few on here were criticising Fox when he played his first couple of games... lol.. ]
Jos says on Player,'It's not if we get to the PL, it's when.' I enjoyed that even if Nigel will give him a good slapping. Mind you he has a swollen eye and ear, so perhaps it's already happened
I wouldn't be surprised if he has. Likewise however, I also wouldn't be surprised if there's a clause in his contract that will see his salary increase should we get promoted - and that the increase would see him earn more than what he was on at Celtic.
What with all the music album references mentioned lately, I can't help but bring in the Beach Boys. Perhaps Leaving This Town might be appropriate..?
They seemed resigned to it in the Celtic forum, wishing Jos well, on the whole. They still need a CB apparently.
Celtic and Rangers attract some very good players on the back of guaranteed European football and four very high profile old firm derbies each season. It's also a good platform for getting noticed by top English teams. They are good teams, so I wouldn't knock a potential signing who played for them. It sounds like a lot of Celtic fans wanted him back, so its definately a coup for us. Celtic signed him for £1.8m so a fee of anything less than that is a good deal.
Granted but would you argue that their standard of football was better than mid to lower league Premier? They attract as you say some decent foreigners and the occasional Englishman because of their involvement in the European football. Not withstanding the fact that because of the standard of opposition it is a bit easier to be involved in Europe. They do not appear to have any particular outstanding Scottish players judging by the Scottish international football team. Perhaps you would argue different......Some ok ones perhaps but not sure about outstanding ones.
