Went to Chania pre-covid. Parked in the town then walked to the sea and rounded a big building on the west corner of the old port. You don't see it until you get round the corner, then you see it all at once. I was gobsmacked, stunning.See you are flying into Chania. Approaching the end of my stay at the Sani Resort in Greece, it’s called a resort, but it’s effectively a gated privately owned town.
I’ve been to many places, but nowhere quite like this. There are five hotels (though only one is actually a hotel in the traditional sense, the other four are actually villas and apartments, each built around a central clubhouse).
Each hotel has its own pools and restaurants, but you can use any of them (apart from the pools in the poshest one) and there’s 29 bars and restaurants in total (the best of the restaurants are around the fantastic marina).
There’s a tennis school run by Rafa Nadal, a football school run by Chelsea and a survival school run by Bear Grylls, there’s even a synchronised swimming school taught by one of the national team.
I’d recommend it to anyone, particularly people with children/ grandchildren, though it’s maybe one for a special occasion, it’s not cheap.

Went to Spinalonga a couple of years ago after reading a couple of books about it.Went to Spinalonga Island, Agios Niklaos and Kalydon Island to day. Absolutely breathtaking beauty.
Not quite as big (when we went anyway) but went somewhere similar in St Vincent and Grenadines a few years ago.You must log in or register to see images
