    love Prague

Went with Askews and the ladies. Had a great time, but found it tricky leaving a bar with its own brewery. Every time you got half way down your drink they brought you another! it was a right effort getting them to stop!

Quite a few years since i was living out there so could be well out of date, but always had a good time there. A lot of the bars were of the Irish / British style and there appeared to be no real town center. Taxis were plentyful and cheap which they needed to be. Plenty of strip clubs but need your wits about you to avoid being fleeced, some good some absolute rip off places. Plenty of restaurants but again spread all over town. Some nice old buildings (was known as Paris of the East before the commies took over) but not much in the way of tourist attractions, museums and the likes. At that time and its over 20 years ago pick pockets and money change crooks could spot a foreigner a mile away, attracted them like a magnet.

Overall recommend, but more adventure tourism than say Brugge or Amsterdam etc.

Made a family friend through work who originally came from Cluj. Got invited to their wedding (which was in Cluj), best wedding we've ever been to, by a country mile. Been back a few times since, amazing place.

You made me curious so I thought I’d send you the name of the pub.
    It is U Fleku

Mind you I also noticed the strength of the beer!!! No wonder we struggled to leave, and when we did struggled to walk!

If it’s the same the entire choice is that beer, or a short (of some description) That’s it. Nothing else. They just plonk them down on your table and mark a sheet for how many you’ve had. Pay on way out…if you ever get out!

Utrecht is nice. Its split right down the centre by a canal. Rotterdam is similar to Amsterdam but without the tourists. Arnhem is a great place to visit and to watch live footy.

Just offered my daughter (in London) a surfing break in Fuerteventura while she's in between jobs. Turned me down, says she's got too much going on,
    I reckon there's a bloke involved somewhere...:emoticon-0101-sadsm

Maastricht is often looked at here as a bit of a dull, provincial place because of the place for meetings for the Maastricht Treaty. But if has a lot of students and is quite lively. If Hull had as many bars per head of population it would have about 1,200.<laugh>Eindhoven is OK as well. Both have lots of outdoor places for eating and drinking. A problem here, despite a similar climate.

I've been to the Hague. TBH I can't recall much about it. That's how memorable it was. Recall coming across a load of Den Hague fans in the railway station. Sort of a Sunday school outing. When a question comes up on telly, asking what is the capital of Holland, most people say Amsterdam. But its The Hague because a capital is determined as the city where the government sit. Not the biggest city.

ie Brasilia is the capital of Brazil, but Sao Paulo is a massive city.

Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands. Holland is a part of the Netherlands. The Hague is where the government buildings are but it isn’t the capital.

Bloody hell, they claim that was a lager? 13%….. I think Mrs DBT and I were leapfrogging traffic bollards when we came out?
Can you recall which spirit the ladies were drinking?

I remember we were so impressed with the business model, we speculated about replicating it on match days down Anlaby Road (we were in Premier League at the time). Just have a small selection of very strong drinks and every time a customer’s glass is threatening to become empty a waiter fills it from a jug. Tot up the number of refills and charge the customer as they leave.

    <laugh> I’d forgotten that!

Pretty sure the ladies were drinking Slivovitz

It was a great business model.

(actually I’ve a feeling 13 degrees beer there isn’t the same as 13%. I think it’s just over 5%, which explains how we managed to have so many!)

Having spent time in Amsterdam/Rotterdam and the Hague, of the 3 the Hague has less about the city than the other 2. I'm not surprised you remember little about it, as I am the same, not many redeeming features as far as I remember. Amsterdam is the capital by the way.
