Again, depends where you go. I get the impression that people just think about camping as being like Carry on Camping, in some field with dozens of other people, when you could be in a nice hotel. Some of the places I've been camping have been right out in the wilderness in the US, Venezuela and Mauritania. There aren't any hotels out there and there aren't really any other people, just the scenery, the stars, the wildlife and a massive sense of being part of it all. And having to rely on your own resources, skills and wit. It's character building.

I'm gonna go full tilt Bear Grylls in a bit so I'll stop now. <laugh>

My 30th in November so will look to do something then, thinking maybe Malta or Croatia. Been Malta before for a long weekend, absolutely loved it but didn’t go to the north of the island so will do so if I go there. Not been Croatia but it’s somewhere I’ve really wanted to go of late. Dubrovnik has caught my eye, if I do go there I’ll probably venture into Montenegro and go to Budva which also looks great.

Other than that, I go down to East Devon fairly regularly, been a family tradition for donkeys years and some of the fam bought a restaurant down there a couple years back so I get free accommodation and food nowadays.

I like luxury holidays with a bit of relaxation and a bit of recreation. Two weeks in Cyprus with maybe three or four days sightseeing scattered in the middle is spot on for me.

I dont need to build my character. All of my stats are maxed out.
If I develop a gambling problem and lose my house etc, i’ll use my resources and build a den in the middle of a roundabout.
Until that day, all inclusive wristbands all round!

I've just come back from an all inclusive in the Canaries, paid for by my mother-in-law so I'm grateful for that. But it was a family/kids holiday so lots of playing around by the pool whilst the adults just laid around on sun loungers. That's generally not really my cup of tea and the temptation to eat and drink all day is alarming. I had to rent a bike in the end and just get out on my own and go and explore.

<laugh> Yeah so it seems. Don't get me wrong, the all inclusive stuff is fun for a while, but I find it a bit boring after 3 or 4 days. Also you can come home a stone heavier from those holidays if you're not careful.

Already mentioned it earlier in the thread, but there's camping and then there's taking yourself off into the wilderness for some proper adventure. The two don't even compare..

Been to Malta a few times, fantastic place. Did a Villa with the siblings and better halves last year. Had such a good time, we're doing it again this year. It's the only place I've visited more than once. <cheers>

My self and the missus will be going to Japan next year for our 20th anniversary, really looking forward to that.
