This is an emotive subject whereby people involved, or connected, are affected and react in a certain way.

I have very strong opinions myself, but am always reluctant to post them because of the extreme reactions that they provoke.

I won't go into detail, but I believe that some of the Liverpool supporters, along with the police/stadium/stewards/ambulance service/etc, share the blame.

I remember we went there to play Sheff Wed obviously in Oct 1985 the 2-2 draw i went and had no bother getting in, but we got there about 2 hours before kick off, so why where the Liverpool supporters late ?

Oh get ****ed: the Liverpool fans spent nearly 25 years trying undo smears that they'd broken down the gates, urinated on brave coppers trying to save fans (when they'd actually tried to chuck them back into the pens) and several other Sun/SYP concerted disinformation that kicked off the moment after the BBC had disproved their lie that the gates had been forced open (that they thought they'd got away with by destroying the original CCTV tapes). Oh, and they were late because the M62 was being dug up and coach searches, but Duckenfield knew all of this and exactly how and why they were late. Also, Liverpool played there the year before without any problems, but then they had a competent match commander.

My opinions are based entirely on the personal experience of travelling the country, watching football, for over 50 years.

In fact, nothing to do with the Sun which I've never read.

Nor do I have any affection for the establishment, which I despise, or the police.

I, and other Sunderland supporting friends, have had considerable sympathy as would any normal person.

They claim that this subject is 'sub-judice' to prevent it being discussed which is absolute nonsense trotted out by a bunch of amateur defence solicitors.

Whatever the facts of this case it would be the only FA Cup semi-final in the history of the game, where supporters didn't turn up drunk, late, rowdy or ticket less.

It's the insistence that, at this match, it didn't happen that weakens the argument.

The claim is that the gates were opened, the Liverpool supporters surged through the tunnel, down the walkway and crushed those against the fence.

That didn't happen did it?

The victims were crushed all along the front of that pen so it wasn't a sudden influx through the tunnel at all.

What happened was that those coming into that pen pushed their way along the terraces, gave a little nudge and sent those in front down a step or two.

As that process continued those at the front of the terraces, not just the walkway, gradually came under more and more relentless pressure until they became exhausted and suffocated.

You can clearly see it happening if you watch the video of that day.

Those sidestepping their way along a packed terrace, nudging those in front down the terrace and claiming their place are every bit as guilty as anyone else
