Someone obtained or was provided with my email address, from which they would have obtained a link to the necessary information. That would have been in direct contravention of the Data Protection Act, as well as other pieces of legislation.
If, for example, someone said they were an accountant who played in a skiffle band in Kent then it probably wouldn't be that hard to google them, particularly if the band website included info on what their daytime job was. That's why it's advisable not to give too much information away over the internet.

Other than the fact that there was no "bet dodging," yes, the entire Tony "This Is The Size of HIAG's Cock" Adams avatar debacle was nothing more than banter, enjoyed by the entire board, with the exception of the same handful of spiteful and dull-witted muppets.
