Every time I've seen him play he's looked good. If he hadn't had so many injuries I reckon he'd have gotten quite a lot of first team game time at right back by now.
I saw him play 45 minutes for the U23's in December and he looked good, then he disappeared again.
Diame I agree. Hernandez, I don't. If you look at this season, he hasn't had a good run in the team. Whether it be being injured or dropped, coming on for the last to another mins, whatever. Hernandez is a player that needs to start to give him, the best chance of scoring, and he needs that continuity. He also needs a strike partner, as has been said by quite a few people on here, and as the last game has highlighted.
Agree to disagree then.
Strikers such as Hernadez can only be judged on one thing. His goal record this season is poor and this is why Silva went and brought another one in. In short,Hernandez is now injury prone Imo and like I suggested,he has gone a.w.o.l without permission on too many occasions this season.
Work calls.
Silva brought in another striker because we needed one, we actually need more, it had nothing to do with your opinion of Hernandez being crap. Most Premier League teams have at least 5 or 6 strikers. We're also not Man Utd, so we can't afford 200k a week wages and 90mil fees, therefore, we'd be very lucky to attract a striker that's going to score every other game (and yes I understand Niasse has that conversion rate at the moment and hopefully it lasts - but again without Hernandez, he doesn't have that record).
So without Hernandez, Niasse doesn't score 2 against Swansea, N'Diyae doesn't get the opener against Liverpool, and we don't beat Bournemouth - so there's 9 points right there for you that's he had a major, major contribution towards. Without that contribution, where are we? Probably relegated.
I never said Hernandez is 'crap' so let's have it right. I just don't like his attitude mate because despite his physique,Hernandez does comes across as being scared of a real challenge at times and this is exposed in his heading ability when under a challenge, basically he always has one eye on who it going to challenge him. Perhaps this explains his 10 million smacker fee,and why he is not worth twice that as without doubt,he can score goals,I just wonder how many more he would get with a bit more bottle?
I would completely agree with you on that point, I think there is more in him and I would never back him up so much to say he couldn't do anymore than he has, because you're right, he could do more and I understand your frustration on that point. However, he has been a major player, and IMO he hasn't had the continuity a player like him needs.

hernandez is a **** lone striker but great with a partner
and let's not forget where would we be without his 20 odd championship goals last season
he is infuriating though as a lone forward
So why do we keep playing him as a lone forward? That's 3 managers that have persisted with it.

I agree, it's unfathomable (no pun intended), in the video, he's pretty much crying out for a partner. I'm praying (and I'm not a religious man) that Marco sees sense and plays Abel and Niasse from the start against the spammers, but deep down inside I know he's going to start Niasse as the lone striker and will leave Abel slumped on the bench. Really hope I'm wrong.

More likely to be the other way around I think. He's made comments before about Niasse being most effective when used off the bench when teams are tiring and the game opens up.
