I think we will have to agree to disagree, i just don't get how you can write off a proven player of Henry's ability before he's even kicked a ball, Do you not agree that Henry is still good enough to score and create chances for an Arsenal team with the players and style of play that Arsenal play. I think alot of people think Henry was all about his pace but he was alot more than that he had great feet amazing awareness and he is Arsenal through and through so you know he will give 100%. I hope he's available for weekend dream team cause i will pick him.

I think a lack of fitness and pace will mean defenders will be rubbing their hands at it. There's no way he'll be fit enough to start and play 90 minutes in a system like Arsenal's, I doubt he's been brought in to wrap up the season for them. I wouldn't be too surprised if he did well but I certainly don't expect him to.

Back on topic ... this thread has drifted from the question about whether we would welcome back an 'old timer' and the best we can come up with is Kevin Davies! Shows what a dearth of stars we have had lately. But I would take back Chris Baird as one of the few old Saints still playing. I think Channon might be just past his best!

I think its a stupid move personally. Its just going to unsetel everything at the club the focus won't be on the team but whether or not Henry is playing or not etc. Also apparetnly he wasn't very popular amongst the young players when he left, seen as abit arrogant so I dont see that it would really encourage young players. There are plenty of players who would be just as good without causing the distraction and possibly tarnishing the great reputation he has at the club. But I don't really care tbh, the only club I like in the top 6 is Tottenham.

In other words, he believes he should never have left in the first place! Which is the truth, probably is better than Chamakh so will be more than adequate cover for RVP.

So the ageing centre forward who has lost his pace his skills his awareness and pretty much the ability to walk according to some people on here came on to score the winner. God if only we could make such a disastrous signing ( quoting Dan) as that we would of won the league by now. Some people on here do really open their mouths before engaging their brains.

If his name had popped up as our signing instead of Tandori lee and he scored in his first game, would we be writing him off straight away?

He'd do a great job in the Championship but last night he scored against a depleted Leeds team. Still not convinced he will score goals in the Premier.

He will score goals. you do not lose your ability to find space, your vision, your first touch and your ability to finish if it's all natural, like it is for Henry.

Erm, I think we both know there's a difference between joining a second division side and joining a side who, theoretically, should be in a title fight. And why aren't they in a title fight? Oh that's right - because they're signing people like Thierry Henry instead of doing what every other big team does and spending money on players who will actually carry them to a brighter future.

Although fair enough, a goal against Leeds reserves, sure proved me wrong!

Henry's goal against Leeds was a very composed finish, although there was a hint of offside. Still, he took it well when Arshavin or Chamakh probably would have hit it straight at the keeper.

So are you now saying the signing of Gervinho was a bad signing after defending him a few replies ago. I just want you to admit that when you said it was a disastrous signing you were wrong, either that or admit that you have no clue what the **** your talking about.

Just watched the goal again and I see the Leeds left back is playing him onside. Good stuff Henry. I did notice though that Henry was always sniffing around for a break rather than getting involved in play. Can you do that as a lone frontman? Lone strikers tend to have to hold the ball up and bring others into play. Henry wasn't really doing either.
