Speakman and his poor recruitment are to blame, the new manager has very little chance to do well, it would be very difficult to fill TM's shoes

We definitely need a better balance in the squad but the new manager has had every chance to do well with what he has imo.

It’s basic things he is getting wrong. His awful tactics and insistence on playing out of form players like Jobe, therefore forcing other better players into unfamiliar positions.

Substitutions are usually like for like…RB for RB, CF for CF etc. Seemingly no idea how to change the game when it is there for the taking or passing us by.

The bloke is really not helping himself.

I don’t think anybody, well at least I don’t, expect a new coach to suddenly make everything rosey. As you say there’s no golden bullet here. But this guy just isn’t the right fit and it’s pretty clear.

I remember the national press saying the club were really taken aback by the fan reaction when he was leaked and the writing has been on the wall since then frankly. I feared he’d never win those doubters around, and he won’t. What I hadn’t expected was that so many of those who were willing to give him a chance, would turn so quickly.

personally I’d just have Dodds until end of season and then appoint a first choice in the summer, somebody who the fans can get behind.

rightly or wrongly, a figurehead the fans believe in is so important for a football side. Beale may well be a tremendous coach and I have no ill feeling towards him as a human. But he is just not a figurehead. Certainly not for us.

You are assuming there is a right man out there. I am assuming we had the right man and the club had some poor guidance. I do not believe the current people recruiting coaches know what it takes to be an elite coach. They may think they do, but evidence suggest they dont. Then there is the argument they seem to think we are an attractive proposition. We are for a certain category of manager, but not the type they want. This whole nonsense started with a link in the summer window about a coach whose name escapes me. I spoke to an agent at the time who laughed out loud and said no chance. This argument he was coming until the fan base reacted to support Mowbray I think is false. He might have been on a list, but he was never coming here. We as fans need to get a modest grip on reality. I am a dreamer, but we are not some kind of elite level coaching gig. We aspire to be, but right now we are a way off. Like I said, sack Beale if you want, he coule win 10 on the spin and then lose 1 and some would still want him gone. But the next fella wont be what people want unless the club changes approach and the bare minimum is allowing a coaching team to come with him. We have asked Beale to come in and work with coaches he doesnt know. More fool him for accepting. Anyone who has ever coached will know you are not a lone ranger and never will be. As a club we have no idea on head coaches and how to help them succeed.

Did Beale take any coaches from QPR up to Rangers when he went there? It is a bit unusual to not bring in at least 1 assistant like Mowbray did with Venus.

I think beale will be here until the end of the season at least unless its absolutely catastrophic. Problem is I think the next head coach is dodds, that's why he got the assistant job, and then we will just carry on as we are

It should be a massive red flag. Coaching 28 odd players is not a one man gig. You simply cannot engage with all players on your own. If you arent speaking with one voice you might as well not speak at all. The message has to be consistent.

To be clear my top end is u18 in academy level and mens at semi pro. Never been in charge of a mens championship team. So folk can discount my opinion, it is only that. But as an example I recently agreed to do some guest coaching with an u18 academy group. My brief was coaching the transition when we lost the ball. I spent 3 weeks watching sessions before I got involved because I wanted to see what the coaches did, how they communicated, how players responded, body language etc.

Coaches arent all the same, we go through the same quals, and that is the framework. But we are different. I never step onto the playing field when coaching, always from tbe touchline. I see a lot of coaches doing it very differently. How can you work as a team without time to learn about each other? You cant.

I think the key to good coaching over a long period of time is to almost be era-less, if that is a word. Mowbray is a good example of a coach whos style of football as a coach is completely different to what the general style of play was when he was a player.

If you move with the times you should always have a place in football for me. I think the term 'dinosaur' should be reserved for coaches/managers who are stuck in their ways.

I really rate Mowbray as a coach, seemed to want the game to be played the right way, without fear and on the front foot.
I do think his experience as a footballer would also give the younger kids a decent grounding in what I imagine is quite a harsh environment.

He came across as knowing that all the talent in the world isn't enough if you don't put the hard work in and again I don't think that's a bad thing to instill in players.

He also wasn't as much a dinosaur as he made out imo, just a very dry down to earth sense of humour

Roy has done a good job since going back tbh. Do Palace expect top 6 or something? Up to them I suppose.

Need to give him a chance and frankly if we do sack him the person who appointed him should be booted out too. You can't give an inexperienced manager with a development pedigree less than 2 months. It would be ridiculous. Did I want him? No. Do I like him? Not particularly..but he deserves more of a chance than some are giving him. The performances and structure of team.under him nowhere near as bad as some make out. The mistake.was appointing him but at least give him a.chance.

If you've made a mistake, rectify it as soon as you can.

Only hypothetical because he wouldn't be interested but he'd make a superb assistant coach, dealing with the players day to day and leaving the strategic side to some egghead. Not Beale.
